ok i know i should prob know this but i dont...

my car ticks its ass off... this is how the story goes...

car never ticked in its life, not even on cold start ups... anyways did a rebuild they were still not ticking... blew my head gasket... kept driving the car then the ticking started never went was always their... then i did a new headgasket n head cheeked then new tappits... still ticking its ass off

i think it could be my rockers? the tempreture did get VERY high when the head gasket blew... but when i blew it the ticking was not their... its only when i kept driving it with a blown head gasket when it started to tick... any help or if someone has the same prob would lovew to here what ppl say... Thanks

also i have changed the oil may times since the rebuild so it has nothing to do with the oil...!

how bad is the tick?

i've got ticking issues.. but i've given up on em

basically i changed my lifters, changed my rocker arms, checked my bearings... still cant find it

i am suspecting its the rocker arms still (i've got some more to try out), sometimes the bearings can get worn when dry, also sometimes the flat part on the arm can get marked and as the valve rubs against it, it can be noisy

either that or the lifters are no pumping, or there is too much slack...

one other thing it could be is piston slap, do you have forgies?

i know how you feel mate, sounds like shit... even after u spend big bux on it..

ticking is not so bad on idle... but give it a good rev... u can here it HEAPS... always their never goes away... yes i do have forgies...

had a mechinc telling me it might be...

it could be one of your valve springs is dead

one of the oil galleries to the lifters might be blocked and not letting the lifter or lifters pump up

You probably baked the oil in places you shouldnt have when you drove around with the blown headgasket :p My friends engine was ticking bad and we just put some Motul Turbolite 10w40 oil in it yesterday and it stopped ticking 2 seconds after startup :) I reckon if it keeps pissing you off just bite the bullet and get some 3G lifters anyway and see if that cures it, and whilst the tappet cover is off suss out the rockers

i was thinking that (with the lifter / oil gallery)

i've flushed my engine so many times previously.. still no help..

record the sound for us and post it up..
ill tell you if it sounds like mine

Proma MBL-8

i swear by it! will work, excellent product, please come again

Mitsubishi NZ sell it in their service departments, im surprised its not so here.

well mines a fully rebuilt motor... i shouldnt be running anything over 15W oil... i'll prob give my car a oil change again, n put some lifter quietner in n see if it helps at all...

my oil pressure is fine...

mine dose the same its the lifters in keeps changing oils, the thinker i went the better is got

its better to go to a thinner oil rather than a thicker one. The ports are too small hence why we have this problem, so thicker oil will only make the problem worse.

thats the stuff, honestly i cant recommend it enough!

i had a 6A12TT in NZ all the lifters were noisy, and just adding that solved my ticking issue for 5,000kms, then it started to come back, but then its just time for an oil change again.

one bottle does about 20-25,000kms worth.

there are lots of threads on the NZ mitsi forums about how good it is etc.

honestly, try it!

where did you get it from?
i might give it a go also...

if it doesn't work.. i've got 2 sets of rocker arms to change over...
find the dodgy ones..

any suggestions on cleaing the oil galleries for the lifters?.. use a pin or something?

getting it from http://www.freeflying.com.au/maintenance.asp
sent them a email to give me their bank info...

cleaning out the oil galleries... why r they dirty in the first place? lack of oil change? or just the cars done a few kms...? mmm u can buy this stuff that cleans it, but to tell ya the truth it dont help very well, cause all the shit will go into your motor n block up your oil pressure hose (inside the sump) forgot what its called... n if that gets blocked up ya car looses oil pressure :D
