The Hankooks R-S2's I read up on just then in some reviews. Apparently they wear out very quickly and you'd be lucky to get 10-15,000kms out of them. They also harden up after a bit of heat and lose their grip apparently. At least thats what some people claimed.

The Falken RT615's look way too exotic and better suited to a competition car. They've gotta be more than $200 a pop easy lol.

I'll get a price on the Kumho Ecsta KU31's tomorrow hopefully. They're rated best for longevity and up there for wet, dry and noise as well :) http://www.kumho.com.au/passenger.htm

Thanks guys :)

Well the R-S2s have a treadwear rating of 200 (as do the RT615s) where the KU31s are 320. I chewed the inside of one of my R-S2s due to camber issues but other than that the wear was fine.

Just one of those things that spoils ya though, once you've had obscene amounts of grip from a tyre its hard to go back. I won't use anything with a treadwear over 200 these days.

I spose $200 a tyre puts most decent rubber out of reach

We have a winner!!

Thanks for the info Dane :) . OPTION1 GARAGE comes up with the chocolates with the Kumho KU31's!!!

I just placed an order for 4 of them. At this price I'd be mad not too! :)

Hey Rob,

The 215/40/17 KU31 are $118 each and freight to 2324 would be $28 per pair so for the full set delivered it totals $528. Please let me know if you would like to go ahead with this order.

Thanks,
Emma

Fkn oath mate :). $528 for the set of KU31 Ecsta's delivered to my door is better than paying $820-$900 a set at the local tyre dealers! Guys should be jumping on this deal! Another T4G bargain find! I wonder how long the price will last?

If anyone knows of a place for cheap semis that would be great.

Just about to spend $1204 on 4 A048Rs in 195/55/15

OK lets see how good these guys are... :)

* Bank deposit processed on 24th June
* Received an email 25th June at 2:35pm advising that tyres have just been dispatched and picked up by Couriers at 2:35pm. The email advises courier name, connnote number, pick up and delivery addresses, no. of items, weight and dimensions
* Just tracked the connote number on the Couriers website and it states at 5:54pm it left Brisbane and on its way to Sydney

Impressive!

Tyres arrived today and were fully trackable through the courier. When my Mrs signed the delivery at 9:51am the courier uploaded the signature to the net. Bloody brilliant service and trackable the whole way  Hanging to get home to check out the Kumho's and then get them on the car and then it's ENGINEERING TIME & REGO!!! (after an almost 9 year build)

just regarding different prices for the KU31's;

I got quoted somethin harsh from tyrepower too, compared them to tempe tyres and taleb tyres, the guys at tyrepower spoke to Kumho Australia and figured out what the differences are:

Cheaper tyre places are apparently buying the tyres from overseas, and skipping all the insurance costs when they're importing them, so apparently local suppliers charge more/costs them more because they have to pay all these excess costs.

Either way, tyrepower spoke to supplier to price match, so I got it from them for same cost.

Just FYI.

mmmm... new black doughnuts sitting in the garage ready to go onto the coupe. They're made in the 47th week of 2008 too which is good to know that they arent old tyres that have been sitting around unsold for a while. I love the water channels in the guts of these tyres :)
