I about to replace the tiny turbo on the E2 it is : so i've been told a TD05 16G small.
Not sure what to go to but would like to get a bolt in replacement. I can get a NEW E3 TD05 16G large for $1100 rip of the comp wheel and go a 20G?

I have a Haltech E8 coming soon so time to upgrade the little wizzer to a big WIZZER. Have looked at the GT pumps units but not sure how they compare in the real world.

Give me some suggestions I want to do this in about a week

O also there aren't unlimited funds! So don't get too excited!

The TD05 16g is one of the best "Street" turbos available. Theres only about 50cfm difference between and "big" and "small" 16g at 15psi, and if your going to modify to a 20g wheel, why not use the original TD05 you have now?

One of the problems i'm also having is I set my Blitz SD ID 2 to say 15psi and it hits 11-12 and then creeps to 15. I have played with all the settings and rerouting hoses etc but no difference

On the old motor it worked fine (different turbo) but would go straight to 15psi and wouldn't move

I don't get boost creep which is aparently a common problem (i have ported the exhaust housing) Which would indicate wastegate being to small!

But i've been told wastegate is the cause?

I'm going to get a turbosmart bleed valve to eliminate the blitz.

I thought of the 20G going in to the std turbo but thought it wouldn't fit in the compressor cover?

Just rebuilding the old turbo and fitting a 20g wheel would almost cost as much as a replacement turbo!?

the ported waste gate on my evo 3 turbo seem'd to fix the over boost problame.theres always the option of putting a external gate on to control the boost better

later on down the track ill be doing the 20G wheel.Speak to rockabilly he already done the 20g wheel i think!

looks like i'll do a full rebuild of the 16g port of exhaust and oversize the wastegate + flapper, 20g wheel and new large cover and I'll probably get the exhaust housing ceramic coated too.

This should be more than enf with the aid of a Haltech E8 to make plenty of grunt

your current turbo might be a crack whore  perhaps why you cant get any more boost..

turbosmart t pieces spike

I would check the turbo/ do your rebuild, before changing boost control

just IMO

PS There's also only about 50cfm difference between the 16G and the 20G

have you had a look at the T04b on the gtpumps.com.au website?
they look like good value for money. i believe meek has used a few of them on vr4's.
also, slowboyracing.com in the USA has some nice turbos

16G small : inducer 46.5mm exducer 57mm flows 505cfm
16G big : inducer 48.3mm exducer 67.9mm flows 550cfm
18G : inducer 50.8mm exducer 67.9mm flows 600cfm
20G : inducer 52.6mm exducer 67.9mm flows 650cfm

main limitation is the cover size std 16G small, outside diam. of intake snout is 55mm so there isn't enf room to fit a 20G wheel

So an 18G is looking Good at the moment 95 cfm more is quite a bit! With a little machining on the cover where the exducer expells I can get it to make boost at the similar RPM to the 16G small and only drop top end power a little from the normal 18G top end power mark.

This should be good for track work!

I sorted out the Boosting issues! not sure if it is the right way to do it but switched the Boost controller to manual mode, I just dial up a number 0 - 100 currently at 53 and it just makes boost to that figure, you just have to dial more or less to reach the desired boost level.

It would change for every mod or change you make. Best thing! you dont have to learn anything in. Just guess accuratly :?

Will keep you posted!
