Have had a look through this database but not able to locate ( possibly getting blind in my old age) many different part numbers for the camshaft timing belt for a 97 hsg rvr 4g63t. Any part numbers would be appreciated from Bosche, Dayco, Gates, belt kits, whatever, with prices included if possible. Am just over 100k for the second time so not going to wait for the belt to snap. Have seen one on e-bay from a company in melbourne but seems a bit pricey (just like their gold plated balance shaft belt for $50 that i bought thinking it was a cheap timing belt coz i didnt venture further than the buy it screen).

T167 Gates Cam ~ $100 from Meek
T168 Gates Balancer ~ $40.

Do Both at the same time. Trust me.

While you've got it all apart, may as well do water pump as well, as it's easier to get to.

Yes will be doing both at the same time. already have balance shaft belt, two actually as I accidentally ordered two   The price for the t167 sounds ok compared to the same belt from melbourne company on ebay, about $160  . Typical though, some people trying to make too much too quick and end up with nothing. cheers

Im currently looking for the same parts for my N23WG SuperSports Gear RVR 4G63T as i need to replace my water pump...may as well do my timing belt at the same time. I've seen the kits on Meek.com.au but i haven't seen anyone with waterpumps.

I kept my waterpump from my last cam timing belt change so I could use it as a sample for next time I replaced it. This saves (should have) any confusion as last time it took my supplier 3 attempts at getting the right pump as several look very similar to rvr. The only problem..........I didnt mark the box and now I dont remember which of the 2 water pumps I have back in SA is the one off the rvr :p .

this is what i found using ImportMonster.com.au Water pump however...when i check an old (1993) 4G63 manual. The water pump looks different. Do u know if this looks the same? Do u remember what brand ur waterpump is when u replaced it? I assume it's the same waterpump as an Evo III right?

As posted in the last thread,

I ordered my Water Pump and Timing Belt both from Meek. The email he replied to me was " Same as Evo 1 2 3 only. "

I still have the box although its about 3000km away from me at the moment. Will ring my old man up and get him to check part number. dont know what brand but in blue and white box. Otherwise as others have suggested...meek. Just on the cam timing belt.....anyone know if a bosch bt167h belt will fit 97 4g63 hsg??? Just checking as can get a lot cheaper than gates and appears to be comparably quality.

just heard back from my old man. the pump is a protex pwp 3094 and cost around $90. Would be good if anyone else could confirm this though. Anyway the pump has done just over 105k and absoloutely no problems with it! :D

Awesome! Thanks Warbo. Just out of curiousty do u happen to know the OEM part number for the Waterpump? My mechanic who is currently replacing my clutch at the moment reccomends to only use the Genuine Mitsubishi Waterpump and while i do the timing belt i may as well get the bearings/pulleys replaced. As i've just done over 120k's (overdue for timing belt :( ) But if u say u've done over 104k's with ur's and it's been fine. I wonder what the physical differences there are between an aftermarket and the original waterpump? What i mean by that is the overall build quality etc...

Cheers

not sure on oem part number. also coventry do a waterpump as well. part number cwp3094. note the similarity in the part number between protex and coventry......possibly from the same manufacturer with different labels. As for only going oem, tell your mechanic what a load of crap! Yes oem parts are guaranteed to fit unmodified, but provided you dont buy the cheapest product from the range, then i see no problem. The saying you get what u pay for is only partly true. I used to sell and repair mechanical equipment that was extremely good quality but also extremely over priced when i knew of other brands on the market that were reliable and less than half the price. like i said in last post, i only about to change my water pump as a precaution being a maintenance fitter. the car itself has no overheating issues. as for reverse gear .....well thats another story
