i meet lots of cops in my line of work, they consistently do walk throughs at all the venues i work at. Last Friday night the usual 2 standard police came through and started chatting to a group of casually dressed people. I knew one these guys well, so when i walked past i got introduced to these other people, who turned out to be off duty officers as well. The guy that introduced me knows me well as i used to go to school with him, and mentioned that im into my mitsubishis, which then opened up a can of worms. Turns out 2 of the off duties were TMU cops :|
Ive always been worried about posting information about my car on here and other forums, for fear of people tracking me down and stealing shit off me, and of course because I get more than my fair share of police attention, without them having detailed information about all the things that im theoretically not "allowed" to have on my car.
Ive always thought that the police would keep tabs on forums, but i never knew for sure. Its been brought up a few times on here over the last year or so. Anyways, to cut an already long story short, I asked if they use car forums to gather intel on individuals and also events like cruises etc etc, to which the reply was a definiite yes. Apparently they have a dedicated team at each TMU office who scan car forums and internet sites for hoon-like activities and road registered cars whos roadworthiness are questionable.
Don't take my word here as gospel, these guys may have been pulling my leg ....
I just thought this section would be a good place for peoples builds without having to worry about such things.

Just for the record, they stated quite bluntly that they've made arrests based on forum posts back when they did that HUGE crackdown in tulla on illegal drags.
And again recently when they did the noble park macca's crackdown.
So I really don't think it's very smart to think they don't.

yeh but if your car is fully engineered with all the parts then you shouldnt have an issue, always keep a copy the engineers cert in the glove box so when they act smart and wanna defect you anyway then just "WHIP IT OUT" lol

im an admin of a well known club 'melbccr'.. about 4 years ago we also switched to the 'private' sections due to them cracking down on our events.. we had events like 'UG' which were underground drags and the works lol.. i spose bak then you get away with shit.. now adays you dont..

It's times like this I'm glad SA doesn't really have big highways.
We have a general traffic unit who know little about modified cars. The unmarked patrol guys on the weekend know a little bit more but as a whole not too much.
And yet WE'RE known as the Defect state?
