Tomei 260 cams VR4

bought a set of 260 degree Tomei camshafts of ebay supposed to fit evo123 VR4 RVR (1st gen 4g63)
went to install them, not even close. Mechanic mate had a look reckons there 2nd gen 4g63 evo 4 to 7
the numbers on them are 2602X and 4 2607N can anybody confirm that these numbers are 2nd gen 4g63?? Tomei only shows part numbers on any web sites not actual numbers stamped into the cams.

Not sure what you have. but from what i read here. vr4 all the way to evo 9 will fit, bolt it and line up but there are timing mark issues to resolve.

Where don't yours fit? Wrong cam bearing position, etc?

your getting the cams and cam gears mixed up Jack.

if they are later model cams the ends for the cam angle sensor are wrong etc..

the cam angle sensor slot is wrong in relation to the cam gear pin and lobe centres.
the lobes on the cams are almost 180 degrees different when you line up the pins.
if you redrilled the pin hole in the cam and machined the cam angle slot in a different spot they "might" work. i think i have heard of people doing this to make evo8 cams fit into a evo3 ??

dude i bought them of will give me a refund if i can prove to him there the wrong ones and i dont want to sell them on if i cant guarantee what they fit.

from what your saying you mechanic mate is correct

As mentioned above.

EVO 1-3 & VR4 have CAS on the intake cam.
EVO 4+ have the CAS on the exhaust cam.
You will quickly identify that they are the wrong ones if you sit them next to your stock ones.

They are compatible but required modifications (cut a new slot and dowel is slightly out if using early cam gears)

As George has advised, get the correct ones.

Yep, as the op said they are miles out i was thinking that they were like a Honda cam or something.
Like if they were evo4 cam they would fit in but still be wrong. Personally i wouldnt say they were miles out. just wrong.
Easiest pick would have to be the cas slot position on the intake or exhaust. As guys above have said

got it sorted refund has been deposited. seems the guy that supplied them to the guy that sold them to me is a bit of a %^$# wit.
they suit evo 456 and will be back on ebay as such. be a good buy for somebody, in as new nick. so whos got a set of 260s to suit a VR4????
