Help Support 4GTuner:

i suppose that cutting any metal on/throughout the car will make it more suseptible to rust, however professionals out there would do a lot to prevent this ever happening...

a pop-up one will be much cheaper you will not need to build a false roof for the sunroof to pretrude into...

as for a place that does them... no idea...

I was always told that the best sunroof is a factory sunroof. If anything goes wrong with it, it is an OEM part and more reliable ...

So I have never bothered... But if you went a pop up, they are a more simple process, and as long as the metal is treated you should be OK. As for who does it ... Don't know.. Maybe ask a local panel beater if they know someone... I guess...

yeah i know the pop up ones r good value... the electric ones were a rip off... i think the pop up ones look better too... i'll have a search around... see if i can get a good deal, it being crap weather :D

I had some info on a flyer for sunroof guys up here in NSW ... But decided against it, so threw it out ...

DON'T DO IT!!

Any aftermarket sunroof that you add WILL leak and probably end up looking like crap. The only sunroof I would consider getting would be a factory fitted item.

Reason - I work in the auto industry and know that vehicles optioned with a sunroof from factory have ALOT of extras added to accomodate the sunroof, ie drainage tubes, extra seals, specific steel roof ribbing (spaced for the sunroof cutout), specific headliners with the cutout etc.

You're also dealing with a vintage and model of car prone to roof rust aren't you...?

But at the end of the day it's your car and you could probably find a tonne of places that would be more than willing to take a plasma cutter (or angle grinder...) to the roof of your car.

i have an aftermarket sunroof on my car.. its an electric one with slide and tilt etc.. i was having some issues with my roof lining so i removed that to see what the sunroof consisted of.. i found the sunroof, its switches and also extra seals with drainage tubes running to the rear/front of the car...

i guess some places do it better then others.

I looked into this also

I found a guy in melb(cause im in syd) had a roof off a evo 3 for sale.$300

For 300. This would be the best way to go. As you just professionally cut your roof off and reweld the FACTORY electric sunroof and roof onto your car. No one will ever know. And RUST well its all on the process of the welds.

Not that hard of a job. And all factory too.

I think this is the best way
