track/street brakes

Help Support 4GTuner:

Just though id revive this thread, I'm up for new pads in my vr4. Street car, with the odd cruise and ahg driving day. Remembering vr4s have more weight that a gsr or evo so i dont want ebc greens.

Anyone got anything further to say now they've gone and bought any of the pads discussed before and can make a comparison?

What are people using on the back? As a lot of good pads aren't made for the back of vr4's. So is a good lower rated street pad the go?
Say ferodo excel? think their friction coefficient is around 0.45 - 0.5 but less heat range than the formulas.

In another thread atm people are saying the elig 2021 is a great street pad. I'm thinking for giving that a go. And considering they are $105, thats pretty good!
Or Carbotech XP8's. They are around $160 according to their website.

Heres my little review....

When i went twin pots i put on Ferodo formula's. ferodo' best "street pad", before the more race orientated ds2500's. Friction rated 0.55 heat 0-650*C.
One or two stops and they are warming up, after a few stops they are great. Really haul the car up, craig almost tossed my tom tom out the window at 150km/h lol.

Their heat range seems perfect for a street driven car.

Been good for a couple of cruises though the hills, once they faded after a solid half hour but could be the fluid.

They have taken a bit out of the rotors and are dusty, but dust i just take with a performance pad. Only lasted 10 000kms to.

Im quite happy with them but looking to try something else, these elgi 2021's sound the goods, has anyone got the friction rating and temp range for them?

I run those Ferodo's on the front, and EBC Blackstuff on the back. It's always fun to make people headbutt the windscreen for sheer stopping power.

Have also run an outdated Ferodo DS2000 which I think is now the Formula pad. DS2500's simply take too long to warm up.

Yeah at like 160-180 they get the abs working and peoples heads flying. Really for a street pad ive been happy, they might have a faint squeek or cold but after 2 or 3 stops at roundabout near me they are warming up fine.

Their friction rating is quite good 0.55 from memory that why im wonding if to go these elig 2021's or somthing else just to try somhting differnt.

Or stick with what im happy with. I do want a good pad as i do use them hard and i like the saftey of a good pad. On one cruise everyone reefed it on and i was fine.

I am still running the AFM A1RM.

They do wear out quickly on the track which is similar to most pads but have great bite hot or cold.

I think they are around $129
