sorry my bad, yes i think all the aus ones were steal case, and the early jap ones were the steal case. sorry.

if yours is 23 spline and steal case then evo 1 and 2 will be the same, but 3 is different. so if yours is the steal case, no upgrade if thats what your asking. i know where quite a few steal transfers are if you need one.

23 spline evo transfer isn't a straight bolt on affair either I think. Pretty sure the casing is a different length = custom tailshaft.

Aspec is a 23 spline steel case, Jspec pre facelift is 23 spline steel case, Jspec post facelife is a 22 spline alloy case, Jspec switchable is 22 spline alloy case on pre-facelifts.

Depends if your box is a w5m which it should be with a aspec.

All of the prefacelift KM255 boxes I have seen have had alloy 22 spline right angle drives.
All A spec (W5M33) boxes I have seen have had 23 spline steel head right angle drives.
My W5M33 RS box (3.909) came with a steel head 23 spline right angle drive.

The bits in bold are incorrect.

An evo 1/2 transfer (being a 23 spline steel cased item) is a direct bolt on to both W5M33 and KM255 gearboxes, is the same length as a 22 spline alloy case version, and works with the stock tail shaft.

rob323 is correct.
All of the pre-facelift KM255's have 22 spline alloy cases.
All of the post facelift W5M33's have 23 spline steel cases.
Evo0 W5M33's have 23 spline steel cases too.

edit: The front section (where the gears are) of the 23 spline cases is steel, the rear part of the housing is still alloy.
