Turbo choice

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I actually had 1 of them 50trims once lol, never used it... i know the guy i sold it to is wantin to sell it

Go a T3/T04E 50 Trim - Super50 on your 2.3ltr
This will give you up to 470HP with 23psi to 7400rpm and the best thing about this turbo is 23psi is reached at a low 2600rpm.
Thats right you can have 23psi from 2600-7400... This turbo has the "widest" map I have ever encountered...
psst... the secrets out now!
What Lag!!?????

Check it out on

or are you talking about a different turbine housing

No not like that one, you dont know what compressor trim they are using.. Turbonetics all the way!! They have 12 T04E compressor choices.

I am only talking about the compressor map, and it is the T04E Super 50 Trim (20576T)
This is the link to it... however you need to select/ choose what options you want with regard to;
Compressor Map, Turbine Wheel size (diametre), Turbine Housing type, Turbine Housing A/R etc. Thats the tricky bit because of the multiple combinations available = do your research

when reading the chart on the other page what is the key to use (ie how do i read it properly because it dosn't make much sense to me as it is

What chart on what other page are you referring to?

The plotted chart that I attached is from Squirrel Performance/ tools/ turbo calculator with a bunch load of inputs put in, then that particular map selected and the plot is placed on the map according to the parameters you entered.... that one is for a 2.3 ltr. Takes a bit to understand the maps.. have a play and see which changes move the plot in which direction..
on the chart....... psi = pressure ratio minus 1.0 then times 14.7
lb/min x 10 roughly equals crank hp

more so evo cpe's one.

or if you could do the calculator for a stock 1.8 that'd be awesome. just trying to learn the intricacies of owning this kind of engine. i just striped out some more bolts on the current turbo so am about to put a evo td05h on it

Have a look at the map of a GT30R 71mm 56 trim 0.50A/R and tell me what you think ;) (as per GT3071R or HKS GT2835R 450hp turbos)
Because they basically have an almost identical compressor map.

you mean same as the one I mentioned? (T3/ T40E 50 Trim Super 50). If so I disagree.. The GT30R is more laggy... 1.5 Bar is reached at about 19lb/min whereas the T3/T40E hits it at about 17lbs, not much at 1.5 bar but the GT30R's map dips away to the right where the T3/T40E has a linear surge line upwards..

Ok ok, you said almost identical :)
But the Turbonetics one is more responsive... I've used the GT2871R-15, GT3071R and GT3076R.. funny thing is If I had the spare cash, I would change again to the T3/T4OE...
