Turbo upgrade combination for 4g93t

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Reviving an old thread as I'm looking to do this upgrade to my 4g93t in my 94 GSR in the future.

So going by what I can find on other threads, and in this one, I've come up with the following shopping list:

Td05 16g turbo
510cc Injectors
Evo 3 AFM
Evo 3 ECU
Walbro 255 fuel pump

If I get these items, and port match my manifold to suit the turbo, do I just bolt it all on and it's good to go? Or is there other work needed that I should plan for?

**EDIT**

Another question. Would I be able to use the standard GSR ECU/AFM and use a fuel controller like an Apex AFC NEO for fuel tuning instead of running the Evo 3 ECU/AFM?

You will need to modify your front pipe to suit the td05 dump pipe also.
As for the Apexi thing...do you really want to risk an engine?
I would upgrade the ecu and be done with it as that would be keeping with your bolt on plan

Good point, I'll do the ECU swap.

510cc injectors, were they only Evo 4 or can I source them from another vehicle?

510s are from evo 1-3 as well. If you want more control you could get an evo 5-6 ecu and then most tuners could do a proper tune for you.

So pretty much all the parts I need are straight out of an Evo 3. That's good to know. Will the car require tuning if I do these mods, or will it run fine using the standard Evo 3 tune?

I'm guessing the Evo5/6 ECU is a direct plug in as well?

Yea basically. It might run a bit rich due to it being a smaller engine but otherwise should be fine. Evo 5/6 ecu needs a few pins swapped in the loom I think but otherwise is direct fit.

Back again as I've got the turbo/injectors/fuel pump sorted, but now I've got another question. Can I keep the GSR airflow meter if I was to get a Haltech ECU?

Ian91 said:
You could but the haltech should run a map sensor so you can eliminate the afm (this would depend on the model of ecu you get)
Cool. So I definitely don't need the Evo AFM if I go with the Haltech.

You can remove the AFM and run a MAP sensor, as well as an Air Temp sensor in your intercooler piping (GM type can be bought almost anywhere).

*Asking in here to avoid starting a new thread*

So, I've got the turbo (td05 16g) and am currently looking at injectors.

I'm planning on running the 16g at 15-20 psi, are 510cc injectors capable enough for this or should I look at 560cc injectors? I would imagine the 510's will be more than enough, but would just like opinions.

Thanks
