Went for a drive yesterday for about 30min and all was good, parked the car for no more then 10minutes and then tried to head back off.

Start car, clutch in and the gearbox won't shift into 1st... I've been having some troubles with getting it into first for a little while now, been a little "tight".

With the car turned off I can go through all the gears smoothly, with or without the clutch pressed in. weather that's a good thing or not i don't know.

I can put the car into a gear and when I try to start the car it will try move forward, irrelevant of the clutch in or out.

Pushing the clutch in with the car started, it feels like there is a little notch (for the lack of a better word) towards the end of the pedal and can't feel any definitive friction point.

Checked the fluid level for the clutch and it's fine, managed to get it home around 10.30 last night (tow) and not really had a good look at much else. Anyone have any thoughts/experience with a similar situation? Anything obvious I should look at?

I'll have a look at the firewall tonight, was too dark to notice last night. Where was your's split?

How does one check the slave cylinder? I considered this and was going to have a poke tonight.

I had exactly the same problem before.
Turned out to be a broken clutch plate.

The clutch spring had come off it designated position and is causing friction.

i had the same problem when my clutch died, ended up being the clutch plate, the spring holder snapped and the spring came out

Damn XTD 2700lb 6 puck race clutches, that last 3 months :(

try bleeding the system of any air.....if there is a lot in the slave cylinder then its likely to need replacement or rebuild. while bleeding get whoever gets under the car to check the amount of throw on the pivot arm. if there is no air in the system and full travel is achieved on the arm your fault requires removal of the gearbox to inspect the clutch. if you only get a small amount of travel on the pivot arm then look for cracks in the fire wall or damage to the pedal pivot point

I had the opposite issue.. could put it into gears with the clutch in but let the clutch out, no clamping force (VR4) car didnt move. The clutch was very nice and blue and had no meat left on it...

but yea hope it turns out 2 be sumthin cheap to fix for ya

I've ordered a replacement clutch from excedy a while back...just waiting for it to arrive (was not in stock apprently), So I'm actually hoping it's just the clutch that is fried

could be clutch, but you would have felt it slipping for a while if that is the case.

There was some slipping, started a month ago or so :)

try starting the car in first, give it some gas then see if you can shift into 2nd.

Not sure what you mean? Start her up, try put into first, give it some gas and then try for 2nd?

Doesn't appear to be any cracks in the firewall, was worth the look :)

ive seen heaps of these happen to a heap of different cars and its normally dislodged spring may have caused bent diaphram springs on the pressure plate which may be not allowing your clutch to disengage 100%

sounds like it will be the clutch especially if it was slippin, glad it wasnt the firewall, couldnt beleive it when i saw it on mine, good luck with it man

check clutch pedal bracket especially if you have creak's coming from depressing your clutch. Fitted oem revised clutch pedal braket clutch is now like new
