Help Support 4GTuner:

Yea I know my afm sit there but I've seen other people have there's re located between the intercooler pipes and throttle body. And used a slim lookin afm silver colour. The afm looks like the one in Holden's with the ls1 motors

You're AFM sits behind the battery. It's connected to your air filter. I do not understand what you mean here ?

We call them GM MAF... You used to need a "GM translator" to run it in a Mitsu. They replace your factory MAS and can flow much more air. But now V3 has a driver for it and it works better than the GM translator. So overnight, those translator became almost worthless :).

However V3 also allows you to run SD (speed density), so you do not need any air flow sensor! Most people just go with that option. So these GM MAFs are now pletiful on second hand market.

Don't worry I think I've worked it out they rip out there oem afm and get a GM maf translator and use GM afm

It replaces MAS (MAF/AFM) with a MAP (pressure sensor) and a temp. sensor. SD has no MAS related restriction, overrun or bad weather drivability. But... You are now 100% dependand on your calibration maps and idle tends to be worse than stock (especially with wild cams).

In theory, SD is an inferior system, but it tends work very well!

Yep, I'd be going Mafless ( if your ecu supports it ), or z32 80mm or infinity 90mm. Z32 would be what i'd go to, there's no way i'd go over the limit they can produce, and there's a reason why a lot of high hp cars run them.

Actually, it is just the opposite, SD system is the most tollerant of boost leaks! Leaks reduce your manifold pressure, so any leaks before the manifold will be automatically accounted for!

In fact, one of the reasons many people run SD is because it works so well with a vented BOV. A MAS has to be position between a vented BOV and a throttle body to work.

Lastly, SD is the only system that would run perfectly well, when you pop-off an intercoler pipe (an ultimate boost leak).
