OK so I started with 91.6 HP ATW. I go ahead and install the Genie Extractors and Apexi SAFC. I have set the SAFC to what feels like a good power range.
800rpm -10%
2400rpm -6% at this stage I have good idle and take off.
4000rpm -4%
5400rpm -4%
7200rpm -4%
The last 3 setting are such because I thought my fuel curve from last dyno tells me I am a little rich. In the second dyno done today the fuel curve shows I am going to rich, why would this be with negitives on the SAFC??
The hole curve is richer I think, considering I have all negitives, I am so confused. Also it cost $100 just for the run, is this normal? And to gain .1 HP for all my trouble is that normal?

how does a dyno tell you if you are running rich or lean, i thought it gave power output and torque at the wheels

Sure its a bit rich..but not too rich

20 Valve corolas dip into the high 11's i think 11.8 is optimal..or mid 12's at high rpm.

ive seen vr4's go mid to high 11:1 and be right.

I would still like to know why I haven't got any power increase to top end. Do these ECU's control thing that much? Sold of the shelf at 93kw I think the GSR Lancer does around 88kw N/A and the 2.0ltGSR Galant N/A puts out 92kw from factory. With basicaly the same motor were did Hyundai get there extra kw's and why can't I improve on this??

Seems like evry thing I have done is a waist of time and money. Maby I should just go turbo like everyone else. Or maby I should jump out of my "4bangers are good" mind set and just go V8 like all the other bogans around my end of the world.

Turbo is a good option for more power

I had the same car as yours but didnt do it up but I could see that a turbo upgrade would be pretty easy

you just need basic turbo and parts to get you going

Exactly

You need a huge budget to get power from an N/A.

The turbo is cheaper by far in the long run

YES, that what you get for going N/A, you need BIG $$$$ to get power out of a N/A engine.
I had a mate years ago who spent $20k+ (Engine wise) on his car and it was only running high 14's @94mph and it wasn't a daily driver, it had a massive cam and idle'd like a pig, went through heaps fuel too.
Mind you.....I have seen people getting good gains (Still stuff all) out of the V6 FTO engine, but you get my drift.....

the nimbus dipped down to a low 10.5:1 AFR on 13psi.....on a stock galant VR4 RS ECU with 520cc injectors.... :D no wonder i use quite a bit of fuel....lol

cheers :D

Thanks for all the tips and points ppl. I will look into a lancer turbo. I guess all I need is the exhaust manifold, turbo to suit and the ECU that goes with it. Run low boost on my stock internals, even put in new headgasket to lower compresion. Intake (cyclone) manifold and I should be good. Recon I could get these parts for less than a grand??

got a manifold and turbo (needs rebuild) if your keen plus all the intake piping for the filter and air can, soon i will have a cooler and piping as well. pm me if your interested
