Uprated brakes

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

UPDATE: OK, I've now confirmed two possible upgrade options for the HSGR and potentially any other RVR if they use the same hubs.

Option 1: 294 x 24mm 8G Galant VR4 - Requires front discs, hoses, calipers and carriers. Can reuse existing pads but recommend new pads - Cost <$500 from a breaker or someone who's uprated to brembos. Allows you to retain the splash/dust shield. Not exactly a huge upgrade.

Option 2: 330mm x 28mm 6-Pot Racing setup - Requires complete custom kit from new (discs, calipers, carriers, pads, floating disc bells, hoses and fluids) from http://www.kad-uk.com/kad-brakes/kad-performance-alloy-brake-kits. - Cost $2200+ import tax (if you guys pay that) + delivery. Amazing stopping power and a choice of powder coating colours. You could get the git less discs and then just get some AP units locally, I have some as replacements on mine.

We're going to look at fitting the set from my VR-4 to the RVR soon, I just need to get a set of stock discs to keep the car on the road. Just need to find out about lowering the car next, we don't have Pedders here.

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. I'll take pics tomorrow.

As I mentioned earlier though, late model evo rear brakes are a direct replacement, front late model evo brembo's require magna hubs and its really that simple. No custom brackets etc, bolts up.

@runuts - That's great for you folks in AU but there's many other places in the world that don't have the Magna, even as an import. I suspect however that they will turn out to be the same as the Galant FL models as the Brembos fit to them too. The KADs I reference are far better stoppers than the Brembos too, especially if you do regular track drives, unfortunately they cost much more too! Just wanted to provide options to others who may be seeking upgrades.

I can't edit my above post but I should point out that they need to be pre-facelift brakes from a 96-97 model Galant.
