Hey guys im wondering if you guys have any problems of what im about to outline:

Car - 1995 GSR (japan).

Engine - 4g63T (evo 3 ) conversion.

Suspension- Cusco coil overs and shock.

Tires- OEM evo 3 rims 205/60/15 .

Problem Description:

When accelerating around corners at low speeds basically a vibration is felt to the front, it doesnt happen when driving straight . I have just done a evo 3 engine conversion and the front of the car has dropped a little more than when the 4G93T was in. Before the conversion i didnt have this vibration. Can it be the front is too low and causing this vibration when cornering?

Thanks guys looking forward to your feedback.

tyres not rubbing , wheel bearings good... although when i go off clutch like crusing to a stop i hear like a rubbing sound as if its the rotors hmmmm

I had a similar problem an had a shortened outer passenger side driveshaft made when the car was really low the shaft was running out of room an forcing the wheel to vibrate under hard right hand cornering.

Does your model of Cusco coilovers have the camber adjusting bolt at the bottom of the coilovers where they bolt onto your front hubs?
You'll know because one of the bolts that bolt to the hub (usually the top bolt) will be oval shaped or something to adjust camber.
You might have thrown out the camber on one or both of them and need to align them properly.

I went to the shop and checked camber and alignment both were restored and the symptoms didnt go away, i will probably try today and raise the front back to its original height before the conversion, the cusco camber plates are on top where the shock head is .......

btw off topic question ,what fuel pressure do you guys normally run on your 4g63T's?

Actually what i said in the first post isnt accurate, the vibration is definately coming from the front but it happens when im pulling out from rest, as well as when cornering either side, is this a engine mount issue?

when you did the conversion...did you change the gearbox?

these symptoms are similar ti those of a plate lsd chattering.

no the conversion was from GSR 4g93T to evo 3 full engine and Gbox conversion...

you have confused me....my question was did you change the gearbox?

you start with a no in the sentence above.....but say the conversion involves a gearbox change.

any way.....has the gearbox got a limited slip diff? does the transfer case match the evo three gearbox?

Sorry what i meant to say is that the engine originally was the 4g93T coupled on to a evo 2 gearbox with matching transfer and rear diff, the conversion however involved a evo 3 engine and evo 3 RS gearbox with matching transfer and rear diff , so yes the Gbox is different and does have a LSD, i already added Redline LSD additive to the box to reduce chatter as there was very small amount.

IM not certain if its the box which is causing the vibration as it only happens when im driving from rest to about 40km/h and then it dissappears. would a misaligned drive shaft cause this , as well as engine mounts as i have noticed when i power up at normal driving speed on the highway i see the gear shifter move backwards , since its cable driven that means the engine is rocking backwards when i power up...

My guess is gearbox mounts.

Have a good look at them. Even if you think they are fine, pull it out and inspect.

I had a simlar issue on the AMG.

Being a Lancer, you will have 3 mounts to inspect.

I think it must be something to do with the driveshaft angles.

Mine would vibrate only are certain revs and speeds.

i will inspect the mounts however they were new when i did the conversion, how can i tell if the drive shaft is at the wrong angle so far i see that its slightly bent but i was told its normal as the centre bearing cant move or accomodate a shift to straighten the shaft.

i will increase he height of the front of the car and hopes it stops... besides that the car pulls really sweet.....

So i finally got the time to raise the front of the car by 20cm and wala no more vibration seems the axles was bottoming out inside the cup.... problem fixed!

Thats the same issue I had, I got a local CV guy to make me one up a bit shorter an its been fine ever since, he told me he has done a few over the years
