VIN help

Hi guys i am looking at a few evo 3's atm and looking iinto their history.

I have a vin and engine number to post...can anyone tell me if it is a real evo 3 as advertised?.....

VIN: 6E9REBU1L98Z28001
Engine: 4G63NV3760

Entaran has had look at the ad and smells a problem....
I think personally that the REBU1L bit spells REBUILD to me? :evil:
I was under the impression that evos were CD9A or something like that?

My problem was.... Mines ecu then apexi shit to override it... did mines even make ecu's for e3's?

The VIN is a reshell.

The power at the wheels is SHITFUL (it's nearly stock), and it was tuned by amberly haha.

The photo's of the car show it at stock ride height (I don't think anyone puts in coilovers then leaves it way up in the air)

You can't see the gauges in the photo (on the pillar).

... it looks dodgy.

yes, but its not a full aftermarket ECU, its a mine's chip.

thats way to cheap to be an original evo, think about it.

Was talking to him on msn at lunch and he offered it to me at $20k!
BUT.......not a real evo3 so to hell with that! Still

Mate you will be hard pressed finding a GOOD genuine Evo 3 for a decent priced. 95% of all the 'genuine' Evo's have been nicely pre-thrashed with dodgy accident history, and are just money pits waiting to happen!

im pretty sure the VIN of the car is a CD9A.

i remember looking at it.

it is in fact a gen evo. but i think its an evo 1. reason being that the vin is a CD9A, the rear seats are evo 1, the cluster is an evo 1, n the whole kit is fibreglass. im not too sure but i don't think he has the rear foggies aswell.

all parts in the car are actually there as the owner states, but as for ride height, i think he left em high as he got the yellow sticker not too long ago.

the previous owner did look after it well, but im not sure about the new owner :roll: .

old plates on the car were : EIII

20k isn't too bad tho....but i'd save the money 8)

That 6t9rep is the number vic roads give it when its registered in oz.It still has a cd9a number on firewall to identify its a evo.That 4G63RU7537 no. is the engine no.Thats a gen EVO 3 in Oakleigh.

(Mine's now been cleaned, they shouldn't have the red/brown around them). Most mitsub's i've seen hav ethem printed in the same sort of place.

EDIT: i have edited the first post to include the ad just in case any of you guys had seen it around or actually seen that cars particular firewall if it actually had the CD9A in it like Lawrence said above about his location of the plate.

What about the 6E9REBU1L98Z28001 part? Do you guys reckon THAT car will have the cd9a on the firewall?
What if it IS in fact a REAL evo 3? Should i buy it and get it re-tuned?

I really want a REAL evo 3!

The one i was looking at in the ad said it was a gen e3? If you say it is a gen e1, why would he advertise it as a genuine evo 3? :? Why not just advertise it as a gen evo 3? That at least would be the honest thing to do....even though it has all the evo 3 stuf on it, it stil remains an evo 1.

Anyway i need to sell my car first, then i will call you...

Evo 1's - CD9A
Evo 2's - CE9A - 000_________
Evo 3's - CE9A - 010_________
The REPV no is a number issued by vic roads for a reshell of an Australian car. ( Rebuild) . The original vin CD9A or CE9A etc still remains on the firewall. Be careful as the numbers always get confused. I had to cover the jap no so it did not end up on roadworthys etc.
By the way I have a nice clean Evo 1 for sale at the moment . With 12 months Vic reg. It is a reshell
