ive put a 4inch intake pipe to my 16g turbo and a hks filter 83mm inlet , my ecu is chipd but when you go to boost it its sucking to much air is the intake pipe to big??? feels like it lost all power i have taken the maf plug and afm out so is that needed to run it or no?? and help

If your running standard ecu and no maf its gonna be bad you need the maf to run the engine im surprised it even starts. If it was there before put it back on.

That said your not running a maf translator or anything like that ?

As above has mentioned, I have left the MAF plug off mine by accident one day when swapping it over with another MAF and I run a standard ecu in the Eterna. The car started and drove at small throttle openings, but wide open throttle would just die out like sucking too much air. I realised what I forgot straight away and all good when plugged back in.

sunds like it kould be leaking air in the intercooler piping ??? have plug back in afm runs better now but wen you go boost its like air is escaping from the pipes ??? may need to tyt in it up

Boost leaks will cause all sorts of dramas for your car... once you get them sorted, you'll be able to address all the other issues lol.

Are you running stock piping still or aftermarket? I've found the J-pipe off the turbo is the most common place for it to leak. I just went through the same thing last week!

Try and hook up an intake leak tester... VFAQ.com is close to a bible for our cars- click on this link then go 'INTAKE' then 'INTAKE LEAK TESTER' under MISC

P.S, welcome to the club

thanks just found that the Circlip for the turbo compreesor housing was not on probly and this is probly why !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! does that sund rite thou i will do a intake and boost leak test

Wow. Serious?? Lucky you still have a turbo! Re-assemble your turbo then check all the joiners... make sure you have your AFM hooked up this time... it's an important part of your car to make it run right.

What are you using to reduce the 4" down to suit the 2" on your 16g?

im using a 4inch to 2inch reducer to turbo

Sweet. What cooler piping? You may as well list all the mods done to it...

I'd check for leaks if you can anyway- there's bound to be one somewhere. Like I said above, once you get the little things sorted, you can move on to all the others... these cars are getting old, and judging from all the VR4's i've seen in NZ lately, it's rare to find one that's been taken care of!

2.5 inch cooler piping after i get the circlip on and that will test it out if its gone away then all sweet first time somelike this has happen !!!
