ok. im buying Rocket GSR's RVR'd cordia (user of the cordiapower forums)

he is running the RVR engine. he has had the flywheel modified from a 7 bolt to a 6 bolt so that the original cordia box can be used. i will be putting new bearings, rings, metal head gasket, possibly pistons if it needs em.

my question is what is different and what is the same about vr4's and RVR's? eg conrods, pistons, rings, heads, cams, manifolds, throttle bodies, afm's, ecu, mounts (aware of no front engine mount, custom one has been made), vacuum lines, pulleys, belts used. anything will help, as its impossible to find info on any imported vehicle/engine at work.
also any advice or good items to use in the rebuild. your experiences etc.
he is driving down on saturday week. so need some help before then.

thanks in advance. Jon

converted the 7bolt to 6bolt?

do you mean he has redrilled the cordia flywheel to suit the 7bolt crank?

im sure u can get 7bolt flywheels stock off other fwd cars from hyundai.. but they may require the larger gearbox also..

differences? not too sure actually

Depending on which model the engine came from either the Sports Gear or the Hyper Gear the engine will be different.

I own a Hyper Gear which is Identicle to an EVO 3 Engine and Running Gear the only difference is I only have a TD05 16g Small Turbo as opposed to the Big 16g. This is a manual car though but the auto version of the hyper has TD04 turbo instead.

The sports gear engine has non evo cams and a TD04 turbo and any other differences you'll have to research as I've heard alot of things but not had them confirmed by hard facts. Things such as different compression and ecu tuning is a retarded version of the hyper/evo.

hope this helps

yeah, the cordia flywheel has been modified to fit the 7 bolt crank.
he is running the td05 H, so i assume this means his engine is the auto version. and milder cams to the vr4 is that right?
i noticed in the pics i have received that the intake manifld looks very differnt from Asus spec and Jap spec VR4's. just basically need to know if the pistons, conrods, bearings and head are the same.

thanks for ya help. *apparantly* the RVR is more towards an EVO engine than a vr4 is.
swoon. if u have an actual RVR would i be able to use your vin number to find parts in the mitsubishi database? its just that work cant find any imported vehicles parts without a VIN number to enter in.
let me know what you think.
thanks again.

Yes, the RVR's engines are closer to EVO spec than VR4. The pistons are better, but the VR4 rods are the king of all OEM mitsi rods

I take it they run a higher comp ratio too, 8.3:1 IIRC. Someone correct me if im wrong.

If your looking for some GENUINE EVO 3 cams, give me a holla, I have a set cheap.

ok then, so ill should be asking for EVO III products then? as in seals, gaskets, bearings and rings to suit?

correct. if your getting OEM parts, just give mitsi your chassis number.
