Heyy,

My water pump is leaking from the bottom weep hole, its like 10mm in width. Is there anyway of stopping this hole? What would happen if i were to block it?

Cheers

it means the pump seals are gone.

O yourf are referring to the bolt, use some sealant on the bolt thread.

The weep hole isn't 10mm is it ?

yep pump seal gone, got to change the pump.if you block it up, all that happens is that the pump bearings rust and collapse not long afterwards

mysteriously the leak has stopped? Not one drop anymore? Radiator and overflow bottle is full. Only difference is, i topped up up the radiator with water. Maybe the concentrate antifreeze was too strong?

Anti freeze us considered to be very slippery. Maybe it was passing the seals due to this. I have always run a newly built motor without coolant for a very short period for this reason. water only then once there are no leaks, drain and full with coolant.

Lol, you never listen :p, anyhow here is the rundown:

The motor was rebuilt approx 2500k's ago, as always I run water in them for a little while to clean any possible debris and check for leaks. Mind you this car never ran coolant before the build, lol.

The fact of the matter is that the water pump should have been changed in the process of the build, as always Shannon decides not to listen and pays the consequences later on down the track :D.

Maybe the concentrate antifreeze was too strong?

Lol, it was not too strong, it was a tad less than recommended (Read the bottle!).
