I'm about to buy a new water pump for the EVO 1 I just bought, and have been looking at the generic kits from the states.

Has anyone bought one for their 7-bolt 4G63T? 1g or 2g?

Also, does anyone know where to get a new lower and middle timing belt cover??

Na haven't pulled it off yet, going to do it in a couple of weeks.

The car was missing the middle cover when I got it, and the lower cover isnt sitting properly, as its rubbing on the alt belt.

that cover missing is common

timing cover

u can get the timing cover from ralliart. The middle piece is around 120. I just got 1 recently.

I was just going to get a generic water pump kit, from the states:

ITM engine components provide the best possible components to the automotive aftermarket. Many of these components are manufactured by the same factories that are contracted by the original auto maker. All have ISO processes in place. The components meet or exceed OEM specifications for quality.

i picked up one locally at $65 trade. try your local burson or equivalent.

if you decide to order one of those middle timing covers, let me know as i'd be interested in getting one too. i was going to pick up one through trav (mitsubishi) for $125, but looks like i may need the whole set which would be quite costly to go genuine.

Yeah it seems like a bit of a rip! I am definitely in need of middle and lower- i'm just not that keen on paying the huge cost of getting it fedex'd over. Might have to bite the bullet. I'll pm you bro when i'm about to go ahead, most probably next week, or the week after. Might get some magnecors too.

the water pump you can get from local parts stores, just need to match it, it does match a local hyundai model, this it was a sonata. i have the part number somewhere in my shed at home. and accuallyu still have a pump that got used for like 300km before i pulled it off a stuffed motor.

Only problem is if it leaks. A mate of mine bought a US waterpump for his GTO and after around 1500km's it started leaking. Can't do a warranty claim for something bought OS.

He ended up putting a water pump in it from Bursons.

Just thought I'd let you know, yours may be fine but is it worth the chance?

and you're talking $50 difference and having to wait 2 weeks as opposed to having it on the day/next day.

If the waterpump prices were $400, then yeh half of that is a large saving. otherwise i duno

I'm getting a head gasket set from the states anyway, including cam seals, rocker cover gaskets, intake, exhaust, dump gaskets etc which I need and considering I cant do the water pump/head gasket for a few weeks, I may as well get the lot from one person. I am getting timing bearings, timing belt water pump etc etc etc all in 1 lot, instead of getting 20 different parts from 5 different places. Thanks for the concern though- if generic pumps are good enough for Meek, then surely they're good for me....

I will be using a Dayco timing belt

Back to my original question- does anyone know if its a 1g or 2g setup I need to be using?? I have a funny feeling its 1g.

RVR / Chariot GT 4G63 turbo engine uses water pump from 4G64.

When I first rebuilt my chariot gt 4g63 I tried a water pump from evo 1-3 4g63 and found out it do not fit.

As for US 2G engines I believe they are 100% RVR / Chariot engine.

i think theres a few variations.
if it's still got the e1 motor in there, the pump you're after is a WP3094, 2g timing kit.
