Today, got outta my car to go to shops, took a few goes to get my immobiliser to lock the car, i thought hmm then went to shops.

Then when came back to the car it woulnt open, tryed like 20 times close to bonnet and all.
my remote wasnt flat as ligh came up so i was like WTF!!!!!!

Went into car audio shop near where my car was parked about 20m away from and asked if any ideas coz they do alarms to.
And i nor the previous owner know the key code.

Guy laughed then said he's surprised i could lock it as none of the shop owners can, after some workmen doing somehting on the roof it seems to jam the signal and they cant arm their immobilisers.

So just opened with key and set alarm off then put remote right under dash and after a rfew goes worked. shut up.

F'ing weird!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first bit I could understand, but this last bit=

Time for a new battery?

Mine does that sometimes... the contacts on the battery get a bit lose. If I drop my keys or something, the remote usually won't work properly.

Maybe open it up and tighten up the contact on the battery.

Good luck, It's bloody frustrating!

i had that same problem

the light came on on the remote but the car did not unlock

changed the battery anyway just as a test and it fixed it

The dude who owned the audio shop said its not my alarm.
Its something f'ing with the signal.

No one including him and his staff or customers that park nearby can arm their cars, recons something is interfering with the signal.
he said the shop next door soemtimes cant disarm their alarm for the shop as they have a remote for their shop alarm.

Cars been fine after i drove away form there ive driven it since and ok.

Yeah I have heard of this before, a friends folks had just bought a new WRX and its remote failed in the middle of nowhere and it turned out to be the sensors on the automatic doors were jamming the signal from the remote.

Also a little trick that a mate put me onto... if your remote is failing due to battery strength or something else, try putting the remote on your head(press it against your skull) and then press the button, apparantly your skull is a natural amplifier. I think Mythbusters needs to get involved but I have seen it work lots of times when the remotes were previously out of range.

Automatic doors usually have infrared sensors, but some will have microwave sensor which could cause the problem.

But, I bet you will find a mobile phone tower in that location where your remote didn't work. They play havoc with Landrover Discovery remotes especially.
