bloody hell new hoon laws are a bit harsh.
1 strick loose your car for 48 hours plus 300 to 600 hundred doller fine.
2 stricks loose the car for 3 months plus 10 grand.
3 strike thay fuck your shit up and take ur car wtf.

And there not going to make rego or insurince cheaper.

whats ure thoughts? :evil:

im fine with those kind of laws as long as the crime commited warrants the penalty,such as actual street racing and not having your car impounded for screeching the tyres slightly

if you dont want the fine then keep it to the track,wether or not the cops can be trusted to play fair or not is another story

yes princes highway satday night there was a few tow trucks ther and thay impounded 16 cars all up it was on the news shit.

They aren't impounding out in Ballarat.

All (and I mean ALL) the tow companies refused to take the cars. The cops have to bring in their OWN tow-trucks or trucks from melb if they want them taken away.

There was an ASSLOAD of high speed chases in Ballarat yesterday and sat night.

fair enough to saying "don't be a dickhead and you'll be fine" but what defines "hoon-like" behaviour?
from my experiences, some cops are just assholes, and its your word against theres. for example, i got pulled up for "overtaking on the left" when all i was doing was going around someone that was turning right at an intersection...
does anyone have in writing a definition of the laws?

the rules are stated fairly clearly

* participation in a race or speed trial
* dangerous driving committed in circumstances involving intentional loss of traction
* careless driving
* failure to have proper control of the motor vehicle
* causing a motor vehicle to make excessive noise or smoke
* exceeding the speed limit by 45 kph or more
* travelling at 145 kph or more in a 110 kph zone
* intentionally drive in a manner to cause loss of traction to one or more wheels
* driving while disqualified

some are a bit vauge, and up to police discretion
but most of it is fairly straight forward

Holy shit vicroads sucks balls.

+1 to the tow truck drivers.

That would take balls. Cops could f#$% them up.

If I enjoy getting to the speed limit as quickly as possible and some dood trys to do the same next to me. Neither of us lose traction and neither of us exceed the speed limit. Will I lose my car driving in VIC???

these laws are just vic roads profiteering version of similar laws unveiled in qld 18 months ago, they went hard for the first 3 months & then backed right off, after a yr or so proclaiming "victory over hoons!".
Using some colourful graphs in the Gold Coast bulletin (who cant print an issue without mention of hoons) to prove how ingenious beattie & his half whitts are.

The Gold Coast to Brisbane sat night M1 runs are fuckin huge now! even bigger than they were b4 the new laws came in, & i havent heard of many ppl getting done under the new laws latly.

^^

Incorrect. Read the second reading youc an find it after some creative seaching on justice.vic.gov.au.

Specifically it covers "Intentional loss of traction" and exceeding the speed limit by 45kmh or more excluding 110 zones where it's 145kmh or more.

You can as always get done for street racing etc, but if there was no tyre squeal etc they can't impound your car according to the LAW.

You people gotta be informed if you want to duke it out with the TMU on the side of the road.
