hello guys

looking to make 300whp on my vr4
need advice please

so far i have:
055 afm
272cams
510cc inj
16g Big
walbro fuel pump
aftermarket fmic
2 1/2 in exhaust
and a chip by razza i think (it has the launch box and rev meter moved and fuel and boost cut removed)
the motor has good comp as well so its good to go.

so far i have a t04b bullseye turbo (i think its that) to put on

and i dont really want to change the stock ecu if i dont have to.

what else do i need?
any info would be great!

thanks
Glen

A good clutch!

I'd get rid of the bullseye turbo mate- asking for trouble with chinese turbos. Stick with the 16g, will get you there no problemo- they are a 400hp turbo.

Forgive me, its quite late and i've had a long day. I mistook bullseye for master power!

Bullseye turbos have been used in the states quite a bit- infact wasn't gt pumps selling these?

Hey Mr B the injectors may be a little small but other than that with a good tune 300 should be a walk in the park:thumbsup:

What intercooler setup do you have?

Full piping kit and cooler? What cooler?

Also what exhaust? 2.5" custom made or an off the shelf item from somewhere? Also is it turbo back or just dump back?

I'd say -
1. Improve on the 510cc injectors (you could make the power on these but you will be pushing it with that bullseye turbo).

2. 3" exhaust + aftermarket dump pipe (the bigger the better)

3. Intercooler setup - as long as it is done professionally you should be ok. Depending on the turbo outlet, a 2.5" outlet to the intercooler and 2.5" to the t/b should be sufficient. You could go 2.25" from the turbo to intercooler if you wanted but minimum 2.5" on the tb side.

4. Rewire the fuel pump - if it hasn't been done yet. Run a relay off the fuel pump due to the poor 12v+ supply from the ECU which is actually something like 1-2 volts lower than it should be.

5. Blow off valve?? Do you have an aftermarket setup? If not, the stock ones are known to leak at higher boost so you may need to replace OR crush the stock BOV in a vice to increase the spring pressure.

6. Check your exhaust manifold, they are known to crack. Make sure yours isn't.

7. Chip or ECU. You will get a better result with a full ECU but if your budget doesn't allow for it, a Chip should be sufficient.

Basically my advice is to make sure everything is ok before going for a big turbo setup. These cars are getting old and require attention in most areas.

Good luck!

If you only want 300hp there's really no point in changing to a bigger turbo.

A turbo back 3" exhaust, 2.5" intercooler piping (if you haven't got it already) and 20-23psi boost will see you right.

Should be good for 220-230kW @ wheels

ok intercooler is a ebay spec 300x240x80 and all piping is 2in made as short as possible

exhaust is 2 1/2 in custom made turbo back all mandral bent.

1 i do have a set of 620cc inj (what do i hace to do with the chip to run them?

2 the exhaust should be good for the power i want.

3 the intercooler is a ebay spec 300x240x80 and all piping is 2in made as short as possible the turbo outlet is 2in as well as the tb!

4 i will have to check to see if that has been done.

5 the bov i am using is a jdm evo 7-9 plumback :Quoted from EvoOz forum
"The EVO MR BOV is constructed out of Aluminum and comes with stiffer spring then the stock EVO BOV. The EVO MR BOV is capable of holding more boost than the plastic BOV commonly found in ADM EVO 9. These are imported from Mitsubishi Japan.

PIC HERE

6 the manifold is in tip top condish

7 if i can get a ecu with wiring cheap i will but for now i want to stay stock maybe i should try get a safc??

am i on the right track?

See how she goes as is and take it from there I guess.

Chuck her on the Dyno.

As for SAFC, you could go that route BUT I'd rather spend the extra money for a unichip if you want to keep it on a budget.

Or get a custom tune on your stock ecu. You will need a chippable ecu and somebody who knows how to play with the stock ecu's OR purchase an off the shelf chip and hope for the best.

The only improvements are to open up your exhaust and intercooler piping. As for intercooler, your taking a chance with the ebay spec cooler BUT in saying that, I have seen 320kw XR6Turbos with a crappy MONZA intercooler while PLAZMAMAN equipped XR6T with forged motors making less!! (go figure)...

He said he's got a razza chip in the stock ecu.

razza will be able to write a new chip to suit the bigger injectors

i'd suggest a datalogger, then turn the boost up whilst keeping an eye on the knock count. that setup will make 300hp @ wheels easy.
If you want abit more a set of 264 or 272 cams wouldn't hurt.

greddy emanage works well for a piggy back as well, keep all the factory goodness while being able to mod maf inj and all the mapping you need for a street car.

it has a set of 272 cams in it now.
i will see if i can find Razza ( on this forum username??? Razza??) and see what he can do
datalogger? dont i need a single board ecu?
or could i just get a aftermarket knock counter??
