Couldn't put this in the Evo 4-6.5 forum, otherwise everyone would say "a 6!" ditto the 7 and up forum. So I guess I'd better put it here?

I'm kind of stuck between whether I want to buy a 6 or a 7.

The 6's look way more planted & purposeful to me, whereas from a lot of angles, the 7's look very "ruler straight" and can at times just look like a bodykitted lancet, as opposed to a "balls-out" performance car.

What would you guys get if you had the choice?

Cheers

it depends how you like your cars, same as women, personal preference.

I find the 6 alot rawer and more on edge to drive, dance around a bit more but are a bit harder to drive on the limit.

7-9 are very planted and stable and alot easier to drive on the edge.

E7 has ACD but otherwise pretty much of a muchness and it is a later model.
I bought the Evo 6 coz it was my 'childhood' dream car when I was 18. So 10 yrs later I bought it.
But yes it is a personal choice, Evo 7 has more cosmetic aftermarket support.

What's ACD sorry?

Yeah, same here B) That's why I'm torn between more aftermarket options and being a newer looking car with the 7, as opposed to the more muscular, aggressive looks & "purer" driving experience found with the TME.

im a big solid 110kg person and i dont fit in evo7 seats!! they are narrow and suit skinny smaller people!! Hence y i love my evo6 cos its built to accomadate the FAT people like me!!

heres a link on what ACD is and all the tips on how it works

ACD is active centre diff. It operates when the steering wheel is turned and basically restricts or allows diff movement to keep the car as stable as possible through corners/braking/accel etc. It is also allows you to handbrake turns without fucking anything up.
I am going back to a V or a VI in the coming future. They are older and require more maintenance but they are much more of a drivers car. The VIII is awesome to drive hard because it is so easy, literally anyone feels like a race driver. Where as with the VI, when you fucked up you knew about it. IMO the newer Evo's are closer to daily drivers, much more comfortable and refined, stable and easy to drive, where as the CP9a's are more weekend cars, fun and harsh at the limit.

The 6.5 is still considered one of the best bad boy racers ever made.

I went for a 7 because it doesnt look as dated as a 6-6.5 and Im not doing any track work.

Still, its a tough call and comes down to personal preference.

Have a good hard look at them, drive them both then decide.

I gues I kind of like a bit of both worlds.

The car will be my daily driver, so I don't want driving it to be a fatiguing experience.

At the same time I guess I don't want to buy an overweight lounge chair to drive around in that makes me think I'm a much better driver than I actually am.

I also wouldn't mind taking it out to the occassional track day.

Hmmm, definitely have to drive both and see how I go.

CT9a's are hardly overweight arm chairs. When I say fit for daily duties, they are also fit to scare the shit out of you too.

The 6 looks more rally car looking i reckon and thats where the evo roots are from ,i would get a 6 if it was my choice. the same as the early wrx's most people say they prefer them to.

Boostboy I was in the same position last year. I've always loved the VIs and wanted one for years, and to be honest I was never really keen on the VIIs. I drove both and was very impressed with the VI, but seeing as I drive mine daily in peak hour and do country trips every so often, I opted for the VII - it felt a bit more comfortable cruising at highway speeds and a bit 'easier' around town. I still love the VIs and constantly think about selling the VII to go to a VI, but in all honesty they are both great cars and the VII has really grown on me over the last 6 months! I thought it wouldn't be as nimble or sharp as the VI (handling wise), but it's proven me wrong a shitload of times  It may not be as sharp as the VI, but it's definitely no slouch.

If it were a weekend car, I'd go for a VI or TME for sure. As a daily, I'm very happy with the VII. Whichever you choose, they're both Evos and there's not really a 'wrong choice' in my opinion mate :)

For me, I'd love a 6 or 7.

The 6 is such an amazing looking car, has more of a presence in terms of appearance compared to a 7 (if you ask me)
Looks wise - go the 6
Extra features - go the 7
:)

evo 7's have come down in price soo much, evo oz has a black example for 19k with work emotion rims and 200awkw buuut i'd rather a 6 just for how tough they look.
Im actually being tempted to buy a very powerful 6 atm =/

I think i'll put this right here:
