Shouldn't it be the truckies insurance paying out? If he hit you from behind, it's his fault i believe. Your insurance co shouldn't give you any grief as they recover their costs from the truckies insurance company or out of his pocket if he's not insured.

Hope that the insurer writes it off - Just Cars will find the cheapest (read: worst) quote they can from their list of repairers in which to repair it - it's in their PDS. The car will never be the same.

It's better for you if they write it off and you buy it back. Did the car itself have an excess? I'm looking at a car right now and they want a $2000 excess for the car alone!

cant do that unfortunately..
cos if the car is written off as a repairable
it has to go to throu a V.I.V (vehicle identifiation validation), they do scans to check for repairs etc.. and they want reciepts for parts you bought etc..
