I need new tires for my car.

Im after something good in the wet, good for dry, and something that last.

Got to suit 17inch wheels, atm using 205/40 I think, cant remember.

I have a set of dunlop sp sport maxx. 205/40/17 on my gsr and they are great, handle the wet really well too,i even ran them in a track day before i got some semis and they handled suprisingly well..they were great value cant remember how much i paid for them but they were quite cheap....

They have also won small car tyre of the year for the past two years in the australian wheels tyre test

Without a doubt- you need Toyo T1S. They're not too bad price wise, around the $300 mark each, but they cover all that you seem to want in a tyre, plus you pay for what you get with tyres, and are alot cheaper than similar tread/compound performance tyres of different brands.

I've had three sets of T1S (older model name but same thing) and i'll continue to buy them. Two big thumbs up from me.

I had these on my GSR

Toyo Proxes 4

They were around $180 from memory and were fantastic in the wet, dry and on gravel.

I couldn't get them to lock on braking and understeer was only apparent when REALLY pushing in a motorkhana.

I had them for around 10 000km (and sold the car) and they would had worn by maybe 5%.

goodyear eagle f1-the current ones, are totally awesome in the wet,

very good in the dry too, wear fairy quickly if you drive hard though

Best street tire i have ever had was the Dunlop Drizana, stuck in Darwin's rain (umm 4" water ALL over the roads) stuck in the dry on hot Alice Springs roads. lasted for ever

They no longer make them in 17" but

Have tried a few over the years,

Toyo T1S: Not bad, aquaplaned like a bitch though!
Goodyear Eagle F1: Average, don't see why people think they're so good.
Dunlop Direzza DZ101: Slightly better thanthe Toyos

Hankook Ventus RS-2 Z212: Make my old Direzzas feel like $80 retreads! They're NOT cheap by any stretch of the imagination. In fact I could have bought Toyo R888 semi slicks cheaper but chose a road tyre due to the amount of kms I do

a mate has these on his car and loves them as well!

Ok, thanks for the suggestions guys, theres just so many different brands/types/choices :S

Im proberly looking now at these three...
1. Hankook Ventus Sport K104
2. Dunlop SP Sport Maxx
3. Falken FK 452

Dont think the Eagle F1 GS-D3 & Bridgestone Potenza come in 205/40/17.

Those Toyo's T1S are a bit too much at $300ish a pop, the $200 mark or less is my prefered option & what I can afford since I do have to get 4 tyres :(

Disappointed the the Yokohama S Drive are apparently a noisy tire, they looked quite nice.

for anyone on the lookout for tyres i just got some decent quotes..

dunlop sp sport max $230
hankook k104 $175
toyo proxes 4 $165
potenza re001 $215

my budget was roughly 200 per tyre.

Is that cheap? Can anyone get decent quotes on 17" Toyo T1R and R888's?
