Having difficulty finding rims to clear my brakes, so have to use spacers I am currently using a 5mm slip on set similar to these...

I have plenty of thread left on the studs but just wondering the risk involved in running these?
As they are not hubcentric does it put a dangerous amount of load on the studs? As I mentioned the nuts do up with plenty of turns so not concerned about that factor.
Has anyone had any experience with spacers or can recommend a safe solution?
Cheers in advance Scott
:D

you should really replace the studs scott with new ones.
for example falcons have half in studs standard which are very strong
and might be worth a look. the only thing is they dont always fit
through the stud holes on all wheels.

and spacerwise some that are a nice tight fit on the studs are better
for relieving the stress on the studs and not overloading them.

Cheers George,
Any idea where the best place to get some new studs would be?
Was just a bit worried with the slip on jobs as they don't have the locator ring to fit snug on the hub like rims do.

Maybe I could get a machine shop to turn me up some custom fit spacers that are a snug fit?
Have always had this horrible vision in the back of my mind of flying into a corner and spotting a front wheel bouncing past the window

 sorry George planning on keeping them for a while!
I have spent too much on rims to warrant a conversion Jorel!! and I need to do other mods before thinking about that one 8)
A working engine will be the first one :(

a mate of mine in sydney has the same calipers on the front of his evo rally car as yours scott
with 294mm rotors all round and brembo twin pots on the rear

and they fit in 15's

 What sort of rims is he running? my rotors are 285mm .
Finding rims to fit is a nightmare, the sparco's I have for my semi slicks are great and have heaps of clearance but every other rim I have tried requires spacers.
Think I might need a bias adjuster as well, as the car tends to step out in the rear when I brake hard on the downhill sections of the track...it feels rather unnerving!

My rims have a small plastic ring that centres the rim, as far as I remember they come in all different sizes for all the different rims/cars out there maybe you could see if they have some that will do the job for your spacers...

just try taking some rebound oput of the rear shocks next time and see how that goes scotty. the wheel in probably not returning to full stroke
quick enough making it lock in the rear.

he has the same rims as i do to fit the porsche brakes but has 5mm spacers too

Thanks George, will give it a shot.
Will have to start running practice days when the car is finished so I can try a few different things to try and iron out the handling issues.
Got my cusco 4 point brace, hope to put it in tomorrow!

Thanks Rob, they look like the go.
I have a machinist coming round on the weekend to measure up my hubs and turn me up some spacers.
Will have them made with a locator ring on both sides of the spacer, hopefully this will keep them centred on the hub and the rim.
