Why is my car stalling?

Ever since I got a new intake for my car it wont idle unless its cold :S .

I now have the 2 valves on the rocker cover connected to my vented catch can and a bolt in the inlet manifold.

What would be causing my car to stall and how do i fix it?

you running a atmo bov ? other then that il say vacum leak some where along the lines .

because after the engine has calculated the correct amount of air in the intake system
the atmo bov lets it all out

so the engine has no idea wtf is going on

have you fucked around with your PCV valve as well (when installing the catch can)?

Both valves on the rocker cover go to my vented catch can and the inlet manifold has been plugged.

Does that count?

What brand of bov are you running Cade?
I had to run my Type rs to atmo while I waited for my recirc adaptor to be made up.
I just tightened up the adjustment screw until it idled ok.
You have to play around with it a fair bit to get a balance between stalling and compressor surge ( turkey gobble noise ).

It seemed to drive ok except for spitting about $2 worth of fuel out the back on EVERY gear change lol.

I'd just have an adaptor made up and recirculate it

I just had an intake made with no inlets on it...

I am running a Turbosmart type 2 V or something like that.

That would look sick checkin petrol out the back, i was going to loosen it so i didnt get any compressor surge. Thinking about it though it started stalling after I loosened it...

I will try tightening it back up

It sounds like the problem is the blow off valve is leaking on idle,they do that,the stock one is designed to do it,but its ok cos its metered back in throught the inlet via the recirculation hose.However on and atmo venting on,the air is lost and the car overfuels..and basically runs shit and wastes petrol,fouls ur plugs etc.....

If it is the blow off vave and you want to test it then disconnect the vaccum line that goes to the BOV,hold your finger over the end of the hose,if the car idles fine then it means ur BOV piston is being sucked open at idle by ur vaccum line...(connect the line and put ur hand over the trumpet on the blow off valve,you''ll feel air coming out.)
You need more spring pressure... Adjust the spring by a screw on top,if u dont have a screw,take the top cap off and shim it with spacers.
Both of these methods will increase the spring tension and hold it shut,Once u accelerate the vaccum in the inlet turns to positive pressuere and pushes it shut,it then turns to vaccum when u change gears,just like at idle,it helps open it

If your Intake pipe has any holes in it you will get the same effect

And about ur catch can,personally,i vent mine back in with hose and wire gauze with a sintered bronze filter..The vaccum created helps ur bottom end operate in a vaccum environment,better for your seals and bearings.

When i hold my hand over the vacuum hose it idles fine, when i put it on the bov i can feel the air being sucked through the outlets.

New spring should solve the problem.

you should'nt need a new spring for problems at idle unless the bov is very old - the type 2 vports arent that old
i'd try some more adjustments first

Or as i said..Put some shims or washers under the spring..It will increase spring pressure.

OK, now its fucked...Not only is it stalling, but even with the vented catchcan it blew the oil cap off today...WTF!? What is making it build up that much pressure in the first place, and why would it not be venting through my catch can? And why is my catchc an not filling up???

lol . how long you had your catch can for ? ive had mine for 3 motnhs and jsut the lines have gone black hardly no oil in the can. as for the oil cap i wouldnt have a clue haahah never seen that happen before. if your scared try doing a compression test mate .best of luck

Return the setup to stock and see if it does it again.

Then try catch can only (no bov), then try bov only (no can), then try both

Simple troubleshooting.

Hmm this is the second time I have gotten my car back from a service and it has been beautiful for 1 day.

it blew the oil cap off today...

Your Oil Cap...The one that screws one to your motor.??

This has a thread,There is NO Way that it could blow off unless it was loose,(vibrated loose etc),If your motor was being pressurised that much it'd blow the dipstick or the seals out of the bottom of the motor before it blew your cap...

If you dont have both hoses connected to your catchcan it will build pressure.
As for your stalling,as weve all pointed out,Intake leak,whether it be BOV,a hole in the pipe,or a split rubber connector/Hose clamp.

So the catch can i vented to atmo?
So you have 2 lines going to the catch can?
Did you remove the PCV and replace it with a barb?
Did you tighten the spring of the BOV?
