hey guys, i rigged up a catch can/breather for my vaccum lines coming from the valve cover. I used a fuel filter (gutted the filter out) drilled out a hole for a 't', stuck a breather on the top inlet, plugged off the bottom outlet, ran the vaccum lines to the 't' i put in the top.
Now before i just had a 't' with a breather on top and the 2 lines connected to it, but it spit oil around.

Question; I checked the catch can today, and noticed about 10 ml of yellowy/clear liquid in the catch can, it's been 3 days since i had it on, any ideas as to what this liquid is?

I know what you taking about.

I looks and smells horrible!

I believe its fuel/water vapours boiling out of the oil..

ya when i just had the breather hooked up, i placed it beside the maf sensor, it was a perfect angle fro the fumes to enter the cabin air, and i know it REEKS!!!

Now i have it placed in the nook on the driver's side firewall behind the strut tower, much better.

its normal, if your running the car rich too it will go though even more,

I got a pipe where the breather would go and ran it to the bottom of the car so the smell would go underneath, instead of through the vents

how can i tune the car to run leaner, i know it running rich or the car is a pig on gas, average 250 kms to a tank (40 L)

S-AFC, another chip, or standalone engine management

mine gets about 260-280kms from 40L as well lol

How do you drive it?

I've got 250km out of 50L on a couple of occasions in my vr4 (raping the absolute sh1t out of it mind you), but cruising on the open road I can get 470ish, normally it comes in somewhere between the two.

I am looking at using a wideband oxygen sensor with a controler that tricks the ECU and makes it run a bit leaner, it will only change cruise air/fuel ratios but it should make it use a bit less fuel.

Hehe damn, perhaps I want to leave mine stock then, I get 11/100kms when I drive it all week in traffic hardish.

i drive 80 km's a day, 60 of them highway at 120-140, boosting on occasion to get around traffic (1 bar). The car is tuned for 100 octane like i said, and it's modified for track, i never looked to see if it has a piggy back chip or anything, never even seen the ecu yet lol.

Yeah I'm only getting ~400km/tank on my CD9A tuned for 94 octane using Husky 92 octane and I've gotten as low as ~250km/tank on that Shell V-power stuff (91 octane or something)

What brand of gas are you using?

Husky 94 octane, dude we should meet up or something, what kinda mods are on your car? send me some pics!

BTW you can buy husky 94 at 91st and elerslie (forget how to speel it right)

I have no mods currently, got it bone stock with only 49k on it. Its going for a 3" straight back exhaust pretty soon.

I have the same headlights as your old ones, with clear corners, but my RH side came with a flaw in it (mounted 1cm higher, damn fleebay), so it looks like my car has down syndrome (haha). Trying to fix it now or might even convert to projectors.

here's a pic of my car taken with a crappy cellphone cam.

Your evo is pretty fkin' sexy.

So far I haven't seen you driving around the city, but one day I probably will.

can't seem to get you link to work, where in town do you roll? I live in leduc, but i work at petro canada refinery near sherwood park. as i advised another guy who is getting his evo out in ontario, check your crankshaft pulley condition, read this thread http://4gtuner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9504&sid=e4ae900a7d933a0fd7abdf778eba9dee

try this http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/7610/image035nl3.jpg

I live in northwest edm, I roll on groat rd a lot.

I dunno if I have the technical know-how to check the crankshaft pulley, I'm kinda n00b. I've read that it doesn't really need to be changed till atleast ~100k, there is only 51,XXX on the car so I dunno if it would be a problem. Then again I'm definately -FAR- from an expert.
