will $5 G's get me a forged motor???
pistons, rods, after market head gaskets, studs etc stock head goin back on
how long does it normally take

depending on the condition of your engine, and if you do alot of the work yourself, then, yes probably.

as long as you dont have any other dramas.

time wise the hold up is often with parts, its hard to put a
time limit on something like this.

dont rush what ever you do

agreed, last thing you want is to rebuild the bottom end and make it tough and not touch the head, will put more stress on the weaker parts and may cause the valves to wear out prematurely happened to me in reverse, i did the head and not the bottom end, and put excess strain on the bottom end and 3 months later bang

if you do all the work yourself you can do top and bottom for $5k with a new clutch depending on how crazy you go with rods and the like, what type of car is it?

Yep it would, but only if you buy and do most of the work yourself and get other places to do the honing and balancing and inspection etc. Its the extra $$ you spend that follows after you build a forged engine that you've got to consider because you find yourself wanting to get a lot more out of it... GT turbo, custom exhaust manifold, bigger throttle body, custom intake, bigger injectors, a better ECU, upgrade the fuel system, better clutch, bigger cams, cam gears, you name it. Before you know it you've spent $15,000  We all set ourselves a figure but we all end up blowing it BIG TIME

Its an E1 if i am right. Yeah, cams and springs bout it unless you planning on going for a title. We are playing with a VR4 head and it should come out at about just under 2k, with 272 Crowers. Do your bottom end, and I think you already have a big 16G?? bit of boost, the thing should fly pretty reliably!!

$5000 is not enough..... But then again it depends on who does the engine i guess

and who gets him the parts ;)

True and whats parts he wants and all the rest.
Its like saying how longs a piece of string..................................

Thats why you consult with mechanics who will give you the low down and then you can work your budget from there

yeah its an evo1 i have better leads, mines ecu, fuel pump..i want the bottom end bullet proof the head is staying stock as i dont have the coin an i dont have coin for ecu etc all that can wait i just want it runnin reliable with 20psi an the above mods only extras are aftermarket exhaust manifold
...ill do suspension an body kit etc before i worry bouts cams an the like

i think ill get afas to do it darren said it'll be back on the road for me for 5g's i think ive onli done a bearing so im just gunna bite the bullet now an rebuild see no sense in pullin the bottom end apart to replace a bearing im onli gunna break in a few months most likely

im lost to all of this i haven't spoken to a mechanic my mate who is a sponsored drift racer had a look he rekons its a bearing but im just gettin things in motion as i have the resources to do it now..
