Hi guys im after some info on what is the easiest way to convert my aus spec gsr interior wiring to run flold in mirrors climate controll rear fogs and rear wider like on the evo.
Are jap spec gsr evo 1 2 and 3 the same wiring for the interior?
Ive been trying to source a harness threw wreckers but they are all chopped in half
Any info would be great thanks in advance
P.s i will post some info on my ride soon im currantly putting out 456.4 hp on 21 pound pump fuel

Double p.s how long do you need to be a member for before you can start posting in for sales section? I have heaps of stuff i want to sell

Easiest way is to do it is to use EVO (GSR spec edition, not RS spec) interior loom, rear loom and both front door looms.
That way you get climate control and fold away mirrors simply plugging in.
I just kept an eye open in the forums for ages during my build and bought genuine EVO III looms throughout for my coupe, including the engine bay loom, electrical loom, interior and door looms.
It allowed the Haltech E8 ECU to plug straight in with the plug and play patch loom. Also has the benefit of just removing the plug and play loom and go back to stock ECU plugs whenever that ever occurs (NEVER! )

I have wired in and soldered Evo front cut looms to GSR rear looms before. I did it ito a couple of Frankies GSR's and it all worked out fine. Took fkn hours though as there were 40 something wires from memory I had to test, solder and heat shrink. A lot of wires are not matching in colour!!

GSR door looms will be fine to run the fold away mirrors with little work. You just need to run an extra 2 wires to the existing 3-wire GSR system to get the fold away system to work with an Evo interior loom. Ive done that before too :)

I also have a spare EVO III interior half cut loom which I use to fault-find. Its not 100% complete but it helps suss things out sometimes for wiring things up for mates as I dont want to be pulling my car apart to check

There's a fair bit to wiring things up that you cant just explain in words or it'll take pages of writing. One day we could discuss in person where I can go into it in depth for you.

As rob said, just find an evo dash loom and go from there, ive done it to my car too and just spliced the chopped evo loom to the standard lancer loom, now i run climate and fold in mirrors, just need to run some other wires to the rear for the rear fogs and wipers

Yeah, its the GSR EVO 1 model so it has the goodies.
But I think he wants to hold onto it doesnt he? Im sure he wants to put the EVO 1 engine, looms and ECU in his coupe?? maybe check with him about the door loms?? but I doubt he'd want to use the rear loom so maybe you can at least get that from the evo as well as the rear window and wiper.

Sorry Daniel my looms arnt going anywhere soon, its taken months to find new ones as the ones in the evo were butchered.

Between the 3 of us we have enough diagrams and knowledge to get it sorted for you...

No worries mate im chasing up a jap spec gsr thats pretty cheap just have to work out purchase price vs what i will get back from parting it out.
Least i will have rear motor wiring harness climate controll etc
It has a heap of evo 3 genuine panels too plus the bonnet im looking for

Chase, hope you havent thrown away the dodgey EVO looms yet. I have a huge box at home full of GLXi Lancer looms, part Libero, GSR, Evo etc. I dont like splicing and dicing looms at all. Changing the complete wire between plugs and/or changing plugs completely, plus making a nice healthy connection with solder and heat shrink is pretty easy with a bit of patience during a lazy weekend :)
The important thing is the Evo loom structure and how it branches out to different plugs. The wires in between can be switched with exact replacements.

Here is a link to a guy that might separate his loom on trade me

Looks like he might have all of them.
Heres another one too

Pulling up an thread here. I'm putting a new motor in my car. Currently running galant 4g63 Na. Engine loom running to ecu and some power and fuel pump. Stock carby coupe loom for the rest including starter motor. I have an Evo 3 dash in where the tacho doesn't work.

The new motor will be and Evo 3 motor with loom and ecu. To get rpm I'll have to run Evo dash looms. If I replace that how will it affect headlights.

Also is the ignition loom different as it runs the starter motor and thermo fans head lights ect. I don't see any point in changing ignition looms if changing the dash loom to Evo will still operate everything fine.

ummm if you still have the carby ignition/electrical loom I'd be ditching it and using an EVO loom which is suited to the 4G63 as the GL carby loom isnt.
Gianni, to save yourself the hassle and headache and getting back on the forum and posting several questions to try and get people to help diagnose electrical problems when things dont work, please get your hands on the same looms from the same car if possible. That's #1 priority. We've seen it happen many times mate therefore trying to give you guidance up front is the best preventative measure :)
Therefore if you have an EVO III GSR engine loom and ECU, see if you can track down an EVO III GSR electrical loom and interior loom before you start pulling it all apart. If you cant get EVO III, use EVO II next, then EVO I, then GSR. Mix and matching looms isnt going to work 100% and you'll have to sort a few items out. GSR looms still require some adjustment to suit a 4G63.
Again, my recommendation is NOT to commence doing the conversion until you have all EVO I-III looms. EVO interior loom will guarantee your cluster and tacho will work. Also a reminder that your power mirrors will be different for EVO fold-in items. You then need to get both EVO door looms, or make up some extra wiring from GSR front door looms (Evo has 5 wires to control power mirrors and fold-in capability; GSR only has 3 wires to control movement of the power mirrors). Then you've got things like the climate control, fan boxes, ignition barrel alarm, engine control relay, battery terminals, cat converter temp sensor, dash temperature sensor, fuel pump, radiator fan, aircon, Y-connector for the EVO III fog lights, starter motor and more. Depending on what you use you can turn an easy job into a difficult one. Keep it all EVO III or EVO II then go to EVO I as a last resort, then do your conversion ;)
PS: Take it from an old hand who has done many conversions to date in coupes, wagons, sedans, GSRs and Protons using different 4G63T/4G93T/4G93P/4G93 engines from VR4/EVO/RVR/GSR/Proton GTi/GLXi and different looms. The most recent is Chase's EVO engine conversion into his GLXi coupe about 3 weeks ago. We also changed it from Automatic to manual transmission. I did all the wiring and although there was a hiccup at first putting it together with a bouncing relay, it was tracked down to a bad earth and sorted quickly, then the car started first go.

:) yeah. I'm thinking tracking down lOoms for the whole car but as previous in this thread they are hard to come by. Just so u know I've already done the 4g63 conversion. And got fuel pump ect working fine. I'm putting a different 4g63 in so that should drop in and work fine with current fuel pump. Plus that motor has it own loom and can just use my current power source for that ecu.

What I want to know is the dash loom. It plugs into the engine loom aswell and goes to the instrument cluster. What else does it go to. I don't need door looms as all I have on the doors is central locking and I don't have electric mirrors. All I'm worrying about is the cluster reading right and lights working properly.

The other tread I posted about fuel pump is because I have an efi coupe fuel pump in a coupe tank. I have a gsr tank and the dual fuel pump system sitting in my shed. I'm trying to test that it works before I pull out my current one

P's. How hard is it to come across a whole Evo 3 set of wiring. And what kinda price would I expect to pay

The dash loom/interior loom goes all the way from under the glovebox, to the foot pedals, then along the driver's seat, back across the centre console to the handbrake lever/intercooler sprayer, onto the passenger side B-pillar and then back seat to the fuel pump. You need to remove the carpet to change it all.

Anyways, your info changes everything now. Since you're not interested in the climate control and power windows, just use an EVO engine loom and use a GLXi SOHC EFI interior loom.
I did the same thing when doing Angelo's coupe here: http://evocoupe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1639&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=45
If you read that post it should steer you in the right direction. :)

Yeah sorry about being unclear before :) so the Glxi interior loom is the cluster aswell yeah?

U were saying in first response about using Evo ignition. What does that loom consist of

i have an evo 3 rs dash loom if that helps gianni, cut off where it runs down to the back of the car though

Back of the car as in brake lights ect. Dougmo how much u want for it. The rear Im thinking is important Coz I need the fuel :p but it would be good to look at so I can compare a few things so I can visually see :)

Just looked under my hood. Looks like starteris it's own short loom running to battery and to the starter motor and then plugs into the coupe engine bay (not my engine loom) loom. That loom is radiator fans headlights and engine bay fuse box. Then that runs through the firewall. Once that goes into the firewall does that then piggy back onto dash loom? That engine bay loom has a few useless plugs from carby stuff. If I grab the evo 3 engine bay loom. The dash loom and evo3 engine loom will that just plug and play?

Edit. Remembering I don't need climate control windows or anything. I have my own elect window loom I made

You can use a GLXi interior/dash loom, GLXi igntiion/electrical loom, Evo engine loom and Evo ECU. All those wil lwork together. Your only problem will by needing to hard wire or set up some kind of trigger to turn your thermo fans on. Take out the GLXi cluster and insert an EVO cluster.

Yeah I have the Evo cluster in now. I have Evo engine loom and ecu with the motor ready to drop in. So if I grab dougmos interior loom (and fix the rear so it plugs into gsr fuel tank loom) and a Glxi electrical loom it should all replace my gl stuff and then I won't have to worry about wiring in my ecu to it's own power. It'll all be in the loom. I'm liking the sound of this neatness :)

Thermo fans are easy. I can just have them run constantly. Or hack into the ecu loom where it sends the signal for fans.

Does that all sound right
