Hi guys, I'm having a complete crap of a time finding a replacement engine in good nick for the Nimbus (cheapest around is $900 + postage pfft). So I'm thinking of just rebuilding it and at least that way I know the condition of the engine. Can anyone here supply a bottom engine rebuild kit (including rings and bearings but not pistons) for:

Mitsubishi UF Nimbus 1993-1998
4G64 SOHC 2.4 litre 16 valve engine

cheers guys.

The quicker I get this sorted the better otherwise I might chuck in a DOHC 4G63 instead! lol

i think you will find they are the same as evo rob,im 90% sure the bearings are the same.

rings maybe not.

have you tried repco or bursons?

We dont have Bursons in NSW but I did call Autopro and they could only get gaskets individually, or a complete bottom end rebuild kit which included pistons for $1100 :(

I tell you what George, I just had a look at the 4G64 workshop manual and it does look similar to an EVO engine and a piece of piss to rebuild having done several 4G63's and 4G93's :D. I'm sure I still have some unused gaskets left over from some 4G63 builds in the garage :D

Plus I have a Spacewagon wprkshop manual too so I think I'm set :D

Thanks guys. Problem with shipping an engine this way is the extra $$$ to get here unfortunately :( One place in Victoria I rang today wanted $950 for a 4G64 engine exchange plus $150 delivery. That's $1100 to get a 2nd hand motor thats got a good chance of having over 200,000 kms no doubt plus I had to send them mine exchange so add another couple hundred bucks

For that sort of money I think I'm just gonna rebuild the 4G64 thats currently in the car as its gotta come out anyway so might as well build a fresh engine and that way I know the condition its in :D The more I think about it the more I'm leaning that way because of the price wreckers want for a 2nd handy.

yeh for that price u can throw an old haltech in it and throw a twincam head on it lol

I have a nice 6A12 V6 Quad Cam that fits sittin in the garage rob :p but it still needs some parts like ECU, loom + box and prob a few more parts :(
