1997-2002 4G93P's had the Mitsubishi ECU, CAS and AFM.
2003+ 4G93P's had the SIEMENS ECU and no AFM and no CAS at the rear of the head. They had something like a CAS mounted to the side of the harmonic balancer which had teeth etched into the side of the wheel and used Bosch throttle body, Bosche coils etc.
If you are looking to convert the engine into another car make sure you get the right loom and ECU to match the engine, although you can run a Mitsubishi ECU and loom on the SIEMENS engine provided you change a few things - I've done it and have done a write-up on mechanical and electrical changes required to install into a GLXi Lancer here: http://evocoupe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3014
good information EVO-OOX
I do need the Siemens ECU from the most recent engine to pass emissions testing (am building an Independently Constructed Vehicle).
Ah OK, yeah I had trouble locating a SIEMENS ECU and loom even on the Proton GTi forum http://www.protongtiforums.com/forum/ . I cant see why you wont pass emissions with the Mitsubishi ECU and loom though as your chances of finding them would be a lot better - both engines looked to me as using the same pollution controls, plus the emissions test would be easily passed if you retained the stock setup
