WTB- EVO-3, GENUINE PREFERRED, RESHELL WILL BE CONSIDERED

Help Support 4GTuner:

One of those Genuine ones is Yellow and in Ballarat. It'll never come up for sale though, it lives in Phil's Garage with his other 5 evo 1/2/3's and his burgundy CC GSR... and his silver evo 5...

He has too much money. :(

if the reshell has been performed properly, with all strenghtening and the extra braces and all work is engineered. I don't see what's wrong with it.

I see some people with VR4/evo 2L conversions, interior and what not.. trying to advertise as geniune evo's.. that being said.. reshell's are not geniune either.

Depends how u define the word geniune.
To me - Geniune; Factory built.

at the end of the day.. if u can come across a legit geniune evo then you're real lucky.. if not i guess an engineered reshell is the next best thing.

:)

this wouldn't happen to be phils car is it? (has huge piaa's i think at the front)

btw, phil isn't phillip messer is he?

if so, i bought my 'reshell' from him :p

reshell i.e. re-shelling an accident vehicle with a jdm shell, then replacing the original jdm parts; the legal loophole. the only difference is that it has been pulled apart and reassembled, and there is a rebuild number instead of a yellow plate. some people seem to be confusing that with an aus. delivered lancer, engineered to evo spec.

having said that, there is a perfectly good example of a 2L gsr and an evo in the for sale threads. buy one before you miss out :D

Nothing wrong with a reshell imo. Nothings impossible. If its done good, i would not care. Sure, geniune is always the best, but, it then comes down to decision making which effects mr.wallet.

When you reshell, it does not have to be an accident damaged vehicle.

And yes, it's Phillip Messer.

His genuine e3 doens't have PIAA's on it. Not his road rego'ed one. His white e3 has the PIAA spotlights up front, that's got rally reg. His other white one (e2) is a reshell, yet to be registered, he also has a red e2 which is a race/rally import and another one i've not seen. He also still has his burgundy CC GSR which he drives around most days and his little red datto 1200 ute :D
...

and his bigass white crane truck which he uses to haul salvage.

Well alot of different inputs.

I do own a Genuine Evo 3. and i am one of RUNUTS mates.
I also looked for nearly 2 years for a genuine one. And yes i paid for it.

It all comes down to how much u want to spend. I owned a GSR while looking for a EVO 3. I added the prices up and thouht about how much i am going to spend,(say car 15k, engine 4k, wheels 2k,body kit 1k, all bits and peices like interior. Then thats not all no proper strenghtning that evos have then theres the running gear of an evo3 LSD diff etc.). This all means a big deal to me but in saying that THATS WHAT I WANTED...
And this all would of been excess of what a real evo 3 costs.

I spent over the 25k mark.for it. But the engine was worn.
think of it like a GT PHASE III. you either want a genuine one or your happy with a look alike. Its all about enjoying your car for the money you have and most of all upkeeping it,thats the big cost factor.

this may or may not have helped but it was my insight of finding one and owning one.

All the best

AND GOODLUCK
