I will have a heavily modified front viscous lsd and driveshaft end available in about 1 week or so. (also with crown wheel - everything needed to put it in)
I had it rebuilt and filled with a much higher rated viscous fluid to give it a much better preload and it is also able to handle more heat before the fluid goes off when driving it hard.
perfect for fat road, skidpan use etc....
run it in my car for one deca day and a few laps at winton.
still looking for the lsd diffs, so if anyone has anything let me know.
I have spoken to george regarding his but it is a viscous and i would prefer mechanical so i can refit the gsr gear ratios.
I have done some research into the diffs and it appears from what i can see that all rear mechanical lsd's fitted to evo's 2-9 from factory are the same. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
The 2 forum members have stock mitsu diffs and the ebay one is advertised as a cusco unit. Can anyone confirm the ebay diff as a cusco unit? Has anyone dealt with that seller? Would a factory diff or the cusco unit be a better option?
the one i can get is a mechanical also. the only difference is the preloads in the clutches, factory one will be a friendlier as it had to be suitable for a factory car, the cusco one might be harsher as it was releasted for race use, usually get much more of the clunking feeling with after market ones. depends on user preference really. and purpose of vehicle also i guess.
As MyCyborg said, the Cusco unit is better suited for a competition car. If you can get your hands on an EVO I-III Ralliart optioned front diff and EVO mech rear diff it would be the better option for a street car.
Yes that EBay seller is selling a genuine Cusco front diff. I compared it to a freinds Cusco front diff pics I have on my computer.
Yes, I have dealt with that seller before. Took about 7-8 weeks delivery from Japan when I only paid the $70 shipping fee. I recommend paying a bit extra to get it quicker as the 30day Ebay complaint system closes before you even get the item delivered and there may also be some problem through PAYPAL complaints if the timeframe has expired. Its a big risk but from my experience with the seller its been 1/1 legit so far.
yeah i didnt really say it to well. i was more saying thats how they are setup from factory, the mitsi ones are usualy set light, the cusco ones have more load stock generally.
