So before i had my clutch replaced, i flushed the clutch lines out with 3/4 litre of dot 4 brake fluid becuase it looked dirty(brown colour). 800 km's later, i notice after some boosting today, my clutch got spongey. This is what it looks like. I have no leaks, but it keeps turning this colour, any ideas?
There is only like 6 inches of rubber hose, and the rest is metal lines, surely the hose couldn't turn it this colour this quickly?

In this pic, i put my finger in the fluid and it appears clear on my finger.

My guess is grease contamination (had the same problem on my vr4). Might pay to stick your head up under the dash and look at where the clutch master cylinder comes through the firewall and check for any signs of leakage.

I re-kitted my master cylinder and haven't had the problem since.

Blake fluid absorbs moisture, so if not changed often enough (recomended is every 2 years) it is carrying water that will corrode the insides of the steel lines and the slave cylinder. As you have been in the snow lately that could have a little to do with it. The brown colour to me suggests rust, most likely the inside of the slave cylinder and lines have got a buildup of crap that although you changed it recently it will probably take a few flushes to get it clean. Think of the new fluid as a brush cleaning the lines, every time you depress the clutch pedal the fluid is going back and forth, so if you keep changing it it may come clean after a while, the only other way I can think of would be to replace all the components with new...

thanks, thats what i was kinda thinking.

lancerevo92 time for a nice braided clutch line to replace that old and dodgy rubber and steel hard line set up ;)

may just need to be flushed again, make sure you use at least 300ml of new fluid to flush and that u drain the old stuff out first
