hello, my engine is in and ready to run, all plugs connected etc etc. we have reds and fuel but no spark. wants to turn over but dosent.

i thought because its the same engine it'll plug and play but it isnt....

any ideas?

its running a link ecu so we tried it without the AFM but still no spark.

also, iv got a CAI pipe with 2 connections, can any one help on where these plug into?

thanks!

start from the basic.

1. is your fuel pump turning on?
2. are your injectors pulsing?
3. do you have spark?
4. is it sparking in sequence?

All you need is fuel and spark for it to actually fire.. getting it running right is another story..

If the above is not happening, I'd check the triggers (CAS) going into the ECU

For an engine to turn and fire you need
1. Fuel
2. Spark
3. Timing
4. Compression
These are the 4 things that are vital, one of these is not right.

had to get an electrician to look at it, somehow a wire in the harness was slit.

ended up having to put the jspec ecu in so now the link is sitting there looking pretty.

why would the jap ecu work but not the link?

yehh its a plug in.

also...any help on why my lights and temp gauge isnt working? realy pisses me off u get back half a working car when a 'professional' works on it.

and if the temp gauge isnt working, does that mean i shouldnt drive it around because the thermostat isnt working?

The thermostat is a mechanical device, not electronic and is probably working. I say probably because without the temp gauge working or any visible way of monitoring your coolant temperature, you won't know if the thermostat is opening and closing to maintain a constant temperature.

Hope this helps.

The temp sensor wire is usually red from around the thermostat housing, check for the sensor there and make sure the wire is still connected.

thanks alot shadow for the help. iv connected the metal pipe thing into the radiator hose hoping that would work...should i just follow that and see where it ends?

Find out what ECU the link was made for.
There are some changes between AUS SPEC VR4's and JSPEC VR4's...
