it sounds to me like its bent selector forks,if your running a vr4 gearbox then dont bother replacing them with standard ones,get the steel selector forks from an evo gear box and hopefully thats the only damage i had similar problems when my gearbox got stuck in 4th gear and changing to 3rd...

have you been experiancing any overheating problems prior to this happening,i wouldnt exactly call it a common problem,ive never come accross it before
