4g63 into an s13 what's your thoughts ????

The motorkhanas arent being done up here due to the noise complaints so we've only got the hill sprints or the sprints on the go kart track, as for the turning circle it is a bit of an issue but not much, at the come n try day last week there was an Evo 5,6, two 8,s and a 9 and they all handled it fine
 
Haha would strongly advise against an express or triton gear box.


Interesting, do you need to use the evo 4 timing cover?

Nope stock covers will work fine everything should just fit behind it...
 
I think some of you guys on here need to justify your comments and back your opinions up with proof. Otherwise they are just your opinions nothing more. Their are a small handful of guys on here I listen to when asking for advice and these guys know their shit. I'm interested in what the prob is with the sr20det? Is it because it's not made by Mitsi?? Very similar to a 4g63 and capable motor IMO I know they can have issues if not looked after! Just like anything. If u want something super reliable for your s13 drop a 2j in it. It's a pretty easy fit and even on stock internals you've got a far more capable package. Or drop your 4g in, it sounds like a fun build and could be done pretty cheap if you can fab stuff up yourself and save some cash.

Im not bias to 4g's and have built 4g63's,4g93's,Rb30/26's,2JZ's,EZ30's,a bulk load of EJ20's,4agze's,SR20's,LS1's. IMO for a decent HP 4cyl you cant build anything as strong as the 4g63 using the same budget. Iv seen a few sr20 oil pumps fail, a cracked sleeve and every one knows about there fragile valve train design and having to use something as primitive as rocker stoppers lol. I do love the 2JZ and even 1JZ's but for what he want to use it for a big jz up fronts probably not ideal.
Thats all IMO.
 
I was midly involved in a honda k24 with a turbo into an s13, now that was fucking cool, turned some heads and made big power for what it was

couldnt you just run a triton gearbox?

that wouldnt happen to be the one STANCEWORKS s13 would it? with the big bonnet buldge?

Tis a really good engine but idk if it's worth the hassle hey..

I thought of it too when my CA18 was giving me heartache.

You can get them for free almost and they have direct acting cams unlike the SR20 and 4G63.

The advantage of SR20 is the alloy block and how far it sits back in the S13 chassis. Would definitely be an advantage to have the engine weight closer to the COG for motorkhana. Besides, it's bolt in!

I have an SR20 bellhousing if you want it.

Freight would be a killer though hey..
I might be coming to Townsville for a bit of work soon, but I'd be flying up/down. :(
