has anyone used a 7bolt motor and mated it to a manual transmission? is it safe for me to assume that 7bolt motors are all autos? its really confusing.
tried searching, but couldnt find anything.
ive found a 4g63na hyundai motor, but its mated to an auto box. so that would mean its a 7bolt? and i wont be able to mate that to my gearbox would it? because my flywheel is a 6bolt?
any help would be great thankss

lol ur tripping me out.
So you have found an auto 4g63 from a hyundai that you want to bolt a manual up to?
well firstly you can tell how many bolt the crank is by removing the auto and torque converter.
then you will need to remove the "spigot" (i think thats what it could b called) that is pressed into the crank so that the torque converter can bolt up to it.
Once that is removed you should beable to bolt up a flywheel to it then a manual to it from either a VR4 to a GSR/EVO 1-3 and probably even NA CC/CB lancers.

hahah yea im confused hard.

ok, so ive found a 96 sonata. its auto but has the 2L in it. is there a way of knowing beforehand if that motor runs a 7 or 6 bolt crank? obviously 6bolt is best as i can just use my flywheel/clutch combo and thats it. but if its a 7bolt, then i need some other flywheel to make do.

Im not sure, maybe try ringing afew wreckers or googling it and asking how many holes they have in the flywheel?

Just did some googling:

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Hyundai/Sonata/Auto_7/Flywheel/1996/AU72230025.html?tlc=Engine+%26+Drivetrain

According to that site and the picture its a 6 bolt crank..

6 bolt or 7 bolt shouldn't be an issue. U can get a second hand flywheel from wreckers for $50 anyways. As long as it clears the bell housing on the gearbox. Ur right

The only issue could be clutch so check how many teeth it has. If it matches the spline on the gear box and is the same diameter as flywheel ur sweet. I can come checkit out Sunday if u want :)
