87-88 vr4 gearboxes

Ive been searching my arse off looking for a gearbox that is not coded w5m33 or the switchable cp5 boxes , ive so far been able to find a KM225 from a e38a rs it has a final drive of 3.545 . Has anybody got any more info on the earlier boxes before i think about buying the one ive found

Yep pre-facelift ones are KM225's.... all are 3.545.

What exactly did you want to know about them??

first off, why are you looking for non- w5m33/cp5h boxes?

Also, do you know the final drive ratio of the car you're putting it into?

im looking at this because its the only one i can find and im heading up the perth where it is tomorrow so its worth a look and ill grab it for the right price because ive cracked my box yet again.This box has 120xxxkms on it so it will do me until i can afford to build a nice strong box.

Just wanted to know if they are any good being that they were quickly replaced with the w5m33

final drive is all good the box ive broken is 3.545

see if you can catch blackvr (Mike Dale) as he is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to these vehicles

The early hub and sliders weren't exactly strong. I've had to replace more than one for guys over the years.

Yeah i was told that was a weak point of them,is it also the case with the cp boxes too , im still in the process of finding out what this box actually is
