who lives around sunnybank how aint busy and can show me how to pull out my gearbox will save alot of money me pulling it out yeah no

do i have to pull the passengers side cv right out of the gearbox or just out of the cvboot? ive taken out all the bolts but feels like something is stoping it from coming out

get a jack under the trans to hold it level so the weight of the box isn't hanging on the input shaft. You may need to use a large screwdriver or prybar to encourage it to slide off the splines. The hardest part is usually just after you get it off the splines when your trying to manouver it out of the bay.

and whats with giving him sh1t for launching it at 7k? These cars were built to be (ab)used, and will generally take alot of stick before you break something. If you don't want to do it to your own car, that's upto you, but ffs, lighten up.

As some wise man once almost said:
Tis better to have thrashed it and broken it, than never to have thrashed it at all.

Yeah, the funny thing is, you can still select gears ok. I selected a few different gears and turned the input shaft by hand and the output shaft + front diff moved ok??
I initially assumed that the planetary gears in the centre diff gave up, but it seems to be driving the front diff and output shaft as an open diff should (held the output shaft steady then front diff moved instead and vice versa). Of course that was only with the 1nm of torque I could apply by hand!! haha
But still, I would've expected to feel/hear something funky going on inside, which I didn't.

I didn't know what the problem was, I just went to help pull the box out, so I didn't check the rear driveshafts. That could be it also. In fact, Dave check your front CV shafts as well, I've heard of them failing (rob323 - front driver's side??).

The clutch driven plate was fine, pressure plate was fine, (although it looked like something was banging around in the bell housing because there were really bad indentations on the outer side of the pressure plate and some of the retaining bolts that hold it to the flywheel looked mangled).
We've experienced a release bearing explode before (jdmvr4:p) so I thought that it might have been that, tossed around inside there, but no, it was all ok still clipped to the fork. So I dunno what caused that either??

EDIT: We're all guessing here, has anyone heard of a clutch slave cylinder seizing at full travel??

Sorry, Matty just slapped me in the face. Even a rear shaft is broken, the viscous coupling will alow for the front diff to drive the car. Duh! haha
