Story goes, bought a CC wagon on the weekend with a 4g93t in it whole list of stuff to it for cheap. Knew when i bought it that it didn't run, turns over and doesn't fire. Did some investigating turns out its missing a couple of teeth on its time belt and is out by about 8 notches.

So im fairly certain without pulling the block apart that im going to have some very bent valve springs and associated messiness. So the question is am i able to buy another 93t block some where? Because im guessing just replacing the block itself would be cheaper then ripping the block apart, and rebuilding the head?

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Cheers

Mate, I did mine for cheap.
Cut the belt off, pull the cams out and compression test it. You might be lucky
If you get a cylinder with reasonable compression (+100psi) chuck a teaspoon of oil in it and retest it. This will give you a rough idea of how the rings are as well.

Mine had a few bent valves in it and I got a whole head and swapped the bent ones out, and relapped all of them.

When head is off, tip some kero in the ports and it will pour out of a bent or bad sealed valve. Properly lapped valves will hold kero no worries
Put a suspect valve in a drill and see if it is bent.

I might have had 8 bent valves and cost me about $400.

Full gasket set from kerzan for $170
New belt ???
Head with valves $100??
Odds and ends... kero, lapping compound, fclamps to use as spring compressor, plastigage to check bottom end. Etc

Did a compression test got 0 all round, one managed to ping 8psi. Its bad.

I still say cut the belt and pull cams and try again. Then pull the head and have a look. You got nothing to lose.I thought mine wouldnt be too bad as the donor car was smashed real bad and I knew the engine didnt run for very long (if at all) after the belt was snapped. The engine was imbedded in the passenger chassis rail when I got it.

Alright, thanks for the advice. ill try that. Have to pull the motor out any way has im re-shelling it all into another wagon.

If you're after a head/block to rebuild I've got both sitting around that I don't need. Located in Sydney though.

Yeah, ill have to investigate it further. Ill pull it all apart and see what its like when i find a suitable donor wagon.
