Anybody actually fit a Walbro 400Lph intank fuel pump yet?

Hi guys
Just wondering if anybody has actually fitted a Walbro 400Lph intank fuel pump in their GSR/EVO yet?
Were there any issues with making it fit in the tank/cradle?

Oh, and are you using 98 pump or E85 fuel?
Ive read on the internet that the E85 versions have a shroud over the electrics:
"Walbro has released an updated version of the 39/50 DC/SS pump many people know as the 400LPH pump with the option of being E85 compatible. In overall appearance the pump dimensions are the same, for this unit to be used in E85 all electrical connections must be sealed, there for this new unit will have a build in electrical harness with a female Packard connector".

Just for information there was a fuel pump flow test done earlier this month. I'd get the new e85 walbro over anything as long as it fits!

ive fitted one into a 9

top section of the body is the same, its just the bulge at the bottom thats a pain, in gsr/evo you might have to cut the bottom bit off that goes under the pump

What you're all trying to tell me is, that none of you have done this yet? lol :lol:

Yeah the Walbro 400 definitely draws some Amps but its cool. My battery is in the boot and the power cable from the battery -> circuit breaker -> 30A relay -> fuel pump is already 8-gauge so it'll handle 20A :thumbsup:
I realise that I'll also need to upgrade my Alternator to a 90A too because the oem unit wont cut it with all the other electrical gear included.

Im pretty much ready to look at fitting a 400, but wanted to check with guys first. So.... anybody done it yet?

hey evo-00x, i have a 4g93 gsr with 320kw at the wheels e85 powered, ive managed to fit an aeromotive 800hp intank pump, nice and quite, no modification at all. runs great oww yeh one more thing if u wanna run e85 all ur lines have to be upgraded to teflon lines

What lines do you need to replace, just the feed lines in the engine bay or the line off your pump??

+1 for the changing lines as well. If you going e85 then you better make them bigger too

I'm using a single 255hp as a lift pump to the surge tank.

So what's the deal with the plastics and e85?

I have the E85 Walbro, wasnt hard to fit into the stock hanger using only factory parts (no dodgy hose clamps holding it in)
Its quiet and i havent had any issues in 3 months that i have had it..

ethanol is corosive and a solvent that reacts with some rubbers making them brittle

Ive already upgraded all my fuel lines just in case I wanted to run E85 in future - I was more interested in the actual physical fitment of the larger Walbro pump in an EVO/GSR cradle.

Bull shit. I've done 5 now and run steel lines and normal off the shelf ethanol safe fuel hose. All the fuel flex factory cars run it no problems too.

That was a good read, Im upgrading my fuel sytem as well, and already had a bosch 090 and ugraded to dual bosch 044's however was dispointed to find that I only had a factroy in tank fuel pump. By the looks of the the Walbro E85 looks like a what I will be replacing the fatory item with.

I've been told that the rubber (new stuff) is fine. I'll soon find out. All rubber braided hose in my car.

Teflon fittings are different and I've got about $300.00 worth of fittings that need to be changed.. Many guys who have run e85 for years have stated the same...
