i likr the idea of a cobar meet, it's somwhere diffent. somthing of a novelty

x2

Imagine the amount of footage we'd all have. We could make a long ass compilation incorporating the different routes.
It'd be the 4GT meet of the century! haha
I like the idea but realistically I doubt many of us would have the time to do it, and alot of the people on here are pretty lazy when it actually comes to long distance driving (I know the QLD'ers are anyway) so unless it was drummed up heaps or something, people would probably bail last minute making it hard for the poor person who decided to organise it.
Interesting idea though. :)

Cobar was just a joke
Problem with a meet in outback NSW or anywhere for that matter, would be the lack of roadside assistance/facilities and towing home if 'shit happens' lol
Wherever it is going to be, it must be viable in case your car broke down. Can you imagine someone trying to organise a tow truck in the middle of nowhere to come pick up their car 7 hours and 600kms from home

Well cobar ain't that fat away really, if u try bathurst lots of room and plenty of accommodation for us. I know its a bit close for the new guys but its nearly half.way between brissy and melb.... just an idea???

what about holding it in canbera i wouldn't mind heeading there since i wana go skiing again soon anyways. mt perisher towards the end of the season some time.

^^^ true that. Its less for me to travel too so I totally agree
Good thing about Sydney is that there are other major events we can tag the meet before/after.
Drag events, Supernats, Powercruise... that kind of stuff. Hold our little meet on the side somewhere?

If it's going to be really worthwhile doing - we need to do something like the EVONATS that will allow us to not only catch up and check out our cars.... but compete in a variety of events in a safe and controlled manner.

i can only find two speedways that are in the ara.

Gilgandra http://www.gilspeedway.org.au/
and
Gunnedah http://www.gunnedahspeedway.com.au/

they both could both provide a safe place to do our thing.
but both are dirt (i think), and i not all of us would would be to keen on that.

Info:

Wakefield Park is a 2.2km racing circuit that operates under a CAMS National Circuit Licence, AASA and also under the Department of Sport and Recreation permit scheme.

The circuit is located 2 hours drive from Sydney and about 1 hour from Canberra, and is positioned 10km south of Goulburn on 130 acres of cleared land. There are no trees or natural obstacles near the track. Safety is paramount and ripple strips, tyre walls and gravel traps have been positioned so as to make Wakefield a very safe circuit on which to run any type of racecar, production car or motorcycle (e.g., for product launches).

The track is open to the public providing three circuits licensed by the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation, CAMS, and Motorcycling NSW Inc & Australian Karting Association Inc.

In October 2000, after extensive track improvements and enhancements, Wakefield Park hosted a round of the TOCA 2 Litre Super Touring Car championships. The 2000 2 Litre Super Touring Car championship leader Paul Morris quoted Wakefield Park as "the best short track circuit in Australia today".

Wakefield Park caters to the general public, corporate hire, as well as the racing fraternity. In addition to the race meetings and practice days, we also provide group events for V8 Racing cars, and for professionally instructed and organised drive day events. A track based driving school is also being planned for 2005.

Our friendly and experienced staff onsite at Wakefield Park will cater to the needs of all motorsport patrons, with safety being our paramount concern. The onsite facilities include canteen, coffee shop, carports, lock-up Pit Lane garaging, tower, timing and corporate area.

For the ultimate adrenalin filled day, please visit Wakefield Park - whether to watch, participate or drive yourself.

We hope to see you there soon - please contact us for any further details.
