Battery drain

Hi Guys,
I have battery drain in my E1. If I leave it a few days the battery is dead.
I hook up a meter tonight in series between the negative battery terminal and negative lead.
This was showing 2A after about 30 mins.

I pulled the 20A ECI fusible link in the engine bay fuse box and the current dropped straight down to 6mA.

Any ideas where this goes and what I can start pulling to check?

This can happen if your alternator is on the way out. Happened to me a while back.

I think there are posts with info on checking the alternator right?

When pushing the 20A fuse back in I hear what sounds like a relay. Maybe a bad relay somewhere?

Just bumping up this old thread as I have been doing some more investigating.
I have had another look at this and realized that I had the multi meter on the wrong mode.
My battery drain is around 0.7A.

As above when I remove the 20A ECI fusible link in the correct meter mode it drops pretty much to 0.

I have the MPI disconnected but it doesn't help. Neither does removing the big earth lead to the alternator.

I can hear what sounds to be a relay or solenoid firing in behind the center console, say somewhere behind the head unit when I connect the negative terminal back up. I have tried to see if I can see anything or feel but can't.

What relays/solenoids are back here that could be causing this grief? I obviously don't have any Evo circuit diagrams but have the lancer ones printed but they are all a bit different with the different models.

Anyone ever had anything like this before?

The MPI relay is behind the cigarette lighter.....

Yeah I have disconnected that and it doesn't help..

Maybe it’s the abs module that’s also behind/ under the stereo area

I did think that but removed the 60A fusible link on the positive side of the battery when testing unless it has been wired up to the MPI/ECI circuit.

Do you know how to get to the abs module? so I can unplug it from there..

You need to pull all the lower centre panels out from the dash to get to that, it's in a prick of a spot.
