Battery relocation to boot + Walbro install

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

My main power wire is running right next to my speaker wire and I don't get any whining at all. I'm running 2 ga for the amps in the boot and 8ga for the fuel pump.

Running power cables beside speaker cables is usually not a problem. It's running power cables beside low voltage interconnects which is a no-no.

thats what i thought, like RCS's u mean.
my rca's n power cable run on opposite sides dont come close to meeting each other, but i still get a little bit of whining.

in terms of battery choice i recomend the one that craig (to4garret) is using... its is absolutly B/S... he never drives his fkn car (well he might start now), and it starts first click every time...

The optima ones are bloody good. A mate of mine used to have a some kind of stereo setup in his rex (apparently it was awesome, but i know nothing about stereos  ) .. at one of our BBQs, he had it running for about 4 hours pretty loud and the car still started first time when it was done.

A better way to run the power cables -

Jack up the from Front RHS and remove the front wheel.
Then remove the plastic wheel arch cover and run the cables up there.

You will have no visible cables in the engine bay, also no cables near your pedals if you went through the firewall.

There is a an existing vehicle loom that follows that route, so just poke a hole in the gland and feed your dc cables through, then run it down under the carpet.

Just letting you guys know that the PULSE batteries are rated at 80% compared to the ODESSEY (spelling) batteries.......

But they are about $100.00 cheaper for the same types..

The also dont come with the metal cover that the ODESSEYS come with which can be removed and used as a battery box/mount... (they have a metal jacket that is fixed by silicone... I removed the jacket, fixed it to the boot floor and then put the battery back into the jacket.)

Oh now Dan tells us about his Pulse400  How do you find it Dan? And can you show a pic of where you mounted it?

Baz, did you mount the Odyssey jacket in the rear of your car, then put the battery in it? Where abouts is it mounted?

I've got myself a small Pulse battery from autobarn, apparently they come out of the same factory as Odessy. But they're a bit more reasonably priced.

TRAITOR :p

I can order oddessy batteries, but for the price and on the shelf availability/warranty I just went to them, At least I got charged trade price, and offered a position.

btw. I recieved my 5 year service medallion at super dooper last week.

Cheers Dean, good idea I never gave it a though...it can go on my ever increasing list of jobs to do!! :D

Yes, mine is in the rear and yes with it sitting in a the jacket and then strapped to stay in (a few cable ties).

Its mounted near the backseat, drivers side.
The fuel system is in the left, water tank and battery on the right.
Balance wise, not sure how balanced the vr4 is right now.

just note that runnign a + cable next to speaker wires can result in that whining through your speakers...

circuit breaker are generally better as you wont have to keep on replacing fuses...

i run a jaycar 120A circuit breaker and have never had it trip out...

$$$ is higher than budget spec but you do get a bling digital voltage readout...

Hey Tim,

I bought one of these 120A buggars yesterday and hooked it up today. Its a nice little size and I've already made a place for it to live. But my blue LED isnt working  The red digital display is though :) I've first tried running battery to the left of the breaker, then to the right, neither way makes the blue LED work but either way makes the red digital screen work so I reckon I have a dud blue LED in this one. I rang Jaycar and told them I'm bringing it back for an exchange tomorrow. By the way, which side of the breaker do you have your battery power on as the thing didnt come with any instructions
