Huh, whered you hear that? small 16g's exist, theres apart number for them...I ran one on my VR4, and side by side to an E3 16G, it was different.

Edit-Isnt one xxxx1420, the other xxxx1470

49178-01410; TD05H-14B (JDM VR-4)
49178-01420: TD05H-16G (VR-4 RS/VR-4 Evo)
49178-01450: TD05H-16G (Evolution I)
49178-01460: TD05H-16G (Evolution II)
49178-01470: TD05H-16G (Evolution III)

I've pulled apart several Evo I turbos now, all big 16Gs. A mate of mine has also never come across a small 16G after pulling apart countless Evo I-III turbos. The Evo III 16G wheel is slightly different to the Evo I/II 16G items but only to a trained eye. Composition of the exhaust housing is also different from Evo I to Evo II/III. They really are a bit of a mess and the only way to tell for certain is to pull them apart and measure.

I use a GT28R on the 4G93, cost me 1100 brand new, supplies positive boost at about 1500rpm, 10psi at 3000rpm and full boost at 3500rpm and holds it all the way to 7000rpm. I'm happy as with it.
As you may know, the stock TD04L gives 16psi at 2500rpm (which was awesome for round-a-bouts) but above 5500rpm boost would lay over to only 12psi.

16psi at 2500rpm huh?

Blowing a lot of hot air is all you are doing!

A td04l is nowhere near efficient enough to give that sort of boost without effecting the tune of the car.

Just hot air...........

A GT28 is about the same size as a small 16g and isnt a bad choice as an upgrade but with changing the manifold and dump its better value for money staying with a mitsu turbo and getting a small or big16g. Least till you change the manifold and go for bigger power!

Well said, perhaps for the money.

I fitted the GT28R to the stock exhaust manifold using an adaptor plate (custom made by myself) etc... = reduced cost.

Just letting you guys know how this turbo performs on the 1.8!!!

Good day sirs, I'm a newbie here. I'm about to change my td04L with td05 from evo3.

My engine is a stock 4g93t and I don't plan to change my injectors and fuel pump for now.

My question is, is there any danger in this set up? I mean, will it make my burning lean? or is there any other problem I will encounter if I'll push the engine hard with this set up?

thanks, more power.

i ran a td 05 14b off a vr4 on my 1.8ltr stock and and never ran into a problem for the 6 months i used it, but as long as you have a bigger exhaust and bigger front mount i dont see a problem mate keep the boost around 10-15 psi you should be sweet, but also when are you looking at upgrading everything?

Sir, may I know if you change also your exhaust manifold to use a td05, or any modifications in your stock manifold just to fit your new turbo? Just to make sure, you're using the stock fuel injector when you change your turbo to td05?

I'm planning to change injectors and fuel pump maybe next yr

i'm running a td05h evo 3 turbo on my 4g93 stock injectors and everything. even running the stock manifold. it recomended you port the manifold to match the larger inlet on the td05 other than that it's straight bolt on

i didnt do any mods whats so ever mate besides bigger intercooler and and bigger exhaust, i didnt even port the manifold out, i just slapped the td-05 to the standard manifold and off i went
