Beware: ACL/Ross Racing Pistons

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Look guys.. i was not trying to tell people not to buy ACL/Ross pistons. I was merely putting out a message that these pistons have failed.. Possibly just a bad batch of pistons.. i dont know.

Im not an engine builder and nor have i never claimed to be one. So those technical questions shouldnt be thrown at me. Yes i brought up the topic to be aware of what brand of pistons you buy.

Oh yer.. and if you think you can have a stab at me everytime i make a topic.. youve got something coming to you.. you know who you are.

Look ill go take some pictures and post them up.. i guess a picture tells a thousand words.

60 % of faults are human error,

the other 40% nobody owned up too..

theres no doubt that the pistons have broken, its just unfair the blame the product, esp in motors! & esp esp in high performance motors!

its too easy to get it wrong, & im not saying that ol mate whatever his name did, i am saying that theres a chance the methods hes been employing latly when fitting these items MAY have lead to their failure, & your a narrow minded simpleton if you genuienly think that ol mate, sho ever he is, is immune to doing wrong!

one of the best performance mecs iv ever delt with ballzez shit up all the time, dosent mean hes no good, just means iv spent too much time hanging around his workshop ;)

I dont agree entirely but understand where you are coming from. If his mechanic worked predominantly on 4G63's and 4G93's and employs the same method over and over again, he would become specialised and know how to put a package together (performance included). Now he may or may not have used the Ross/ACL pistons before but his experience has got to count for something. I know if I put half a dozen Mitsu engines together this year all the same way and along comes Mr different brand piston then bang, its natural to start pointing fingers at the product  Only the engine builder would know and its inconclusive at this stage without knowing other variables

the shop in question has worked on 4G63/4G93 for about 15 years and use to work for mitsubishi as part of their rally team.

they have only been using the ACL's for about ~12 months and have now ceased using them.
